opal-bracelet
Name of Maker: M Goldsmith
i  made this quilt for my son Louis. I named it Opal bracelet because it reminded me of my mothers opal bracelet from my childhood.
It was on a black background and flashes of blues ,greens and sparkling colours.
I used a black print as the background and  a band of eggplant kona fabric with a mix of circles in Kaffe Fassett fabrics. The quilting is mostly pebbling and pea pods.
my-sewing-chair
Name of Maker: me
I bought an old Mad men style office chair on ebay for $10  and  wanted to recover it. But all I had was  1/2 metre of  robert Kaufman fabric that I fell in love with and bought 2 years ago. Not quite enough to cover a chair. So  I used my applique skills to improvise. On the seat , appliqued a wreath of hearts on a black background and I am happy with the results.
I now have a great sewing chair for very little money.

I made this quilt for a challenge at my guild. It is 35" square. The center and border are paper pieced. I designed the quilt and drafted all the paper pieced patterns for it.

The quilting was done by me on my Handi Quilter and it is a combination of  computerized and freemotion quilting.

A friend shared this poem with me, written by Bob Perks, and I could not stop thinking about it!  When I showed it to my daughter Allyson, we thought it should be captured on a quilt.  We equated four of the lines to seasons of the year and wrote them in the flower  wreaths and sun.  To complete the seasons theme trees were added; and a delicate inner border left plenty of space for a wonderful quilting.  My dear friend, Alex Anderson, designed the quilting for the border.
The original quilt is Hand Applique with fabric, trim and ribbons.  The quilt has also been replicated using the Cameo by Sillhouette to cut out the trees, leaves and flowers. Machine stitches were used to create the wreaths and machine applique the components in place.

Name of Maker: Deborah Ennis
I just had to try to make this quilt and try the quilting techniques that I saw in the October  2013 issue of American Patchwork & Quilting Magazine.
I used my precious gems in my stash of favorites and got to work on this colorful quilt.
The photo in the magazine displays Tula Pinks design talent and Angela Walters quilting skills.
My quilt doesn't shine as brightly as the magazine, but, I finished it and really like it also.

I made this sampler to attain more experience.  I started this quilt long ago and finally finished it this year.  I gave it to my beautiful grand-daughter to keep her warm.
a-new-beginning-2
Name of Maker: Deborah Ennis
This quilt was made especially for my beautiful daughter.  I pieced it in two months and then took two years to finish the borders and the quilting.  I also made matching pillow cases for it.  My husband and I finally got it to her this year.  She now lives out of state.  Making this for her was fun and I learned a lot.

kaleidocarpet
Name of Maker: Randa Mulford

With this quilt I challenged myself to expand upon my previous experiences making complex kaleidoscopes. First, I wanted to try making bigger, off-center kaleidoscopes--a major pattern drafting challenge. Second, I wanted to have my scopes to appear on a "whole cloth" printed background. This required piecing the squares containing the large circular scopes so they appear to be seamless. When the big scopes were done, the design was lacking something, so I added small, appliqued circles in black, white, and gold and was much happier with the overall appearance.

UPDATE - This quilt was displayed in Road to California 2016 and the 2016 Houston International Quilt Festival. It has also been accepted to the 2017 Fall AQS Paducah show.

passionate-rhaposdy
Name of Maker: Cyndi Johnson

This quilt I started while attending one of Ricky Tims Retreats in LaVeta in 2014.  This quilt had been on my bucket list since I first saw Ricky in Paducah in 2007.  His passion for quilting and his passion for this style plus the fact that it was using hand dyed batiks...made it a quilt I just had to someday make!  This quilt won first place in the Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival in June 2015, 3rd place in it's division in the AQS Grand Rapids Show in 2015.  It won first place in the AQS Show in it's division in Des Moines.  The quilt is entered in the AQS show in Daytona Florida and also in the AQS show in Paducah in 2016...we'll wait and see how it does there.  As my quilter, Dorie Hruska says....it's a fun ride!

kanazawa-memories
Name of Maker: Betty Jo Tatum

A quilt honoring the Japanese women in Kanazawa, Japan, who not only taught me Ikebana but also how to manage a Japanese home more than forty years ago.  Made from Peppered Cottons (a soft loosely woven cotton), commercial embroidery designs from OESD for the Sashiko embroidered blocks, digitally painted flowers printed on cotton and arranged in situ on the quilt top in the Japanese style vase constructed from hand dyed dupioni silk.

Horseplay
Name of Maker: Elsie Montgomery
In 2009, artist Bob Coonts gave me permission to use his stylized animals (found online) as insporation for art quilts. This quilt is the second one and was inspired by my local guild's challenge in 2014 with the theme "DOT." Drafting the pattern was easy, but assembly another story. However, I had so much fun making it that "Spirit Stallion II" had to be renamed "Horseplay." This quilt won two ribbons in that challenge, one for most effective visual impact, and the other was 'viewers' choice.'
In January 2015, I attended an art show in Scotsdale AZ and the first booth inside the door was Bob Coonts! How delightful to meet him and thank him in person for making art that inspires me to make art.
