a quilt inspired by a Christmas cat quilt pattern but not liking a quilt used one month a year....I changed the xmas  thing for the cat in the hat hat that I designed. I changed a few things on the pattern.

My new quilt called "Childhood". I made it for my son. When he was a child, he went to village for fishing and catching beetles. I love appliques and embroidery. Three big blocks was made by hands with using these techniques.

I designed the quilt, dyed and hand painted the central panel of the quilt myself, appliqued on the sun drops (petal shapes), attached the border and hand stitched on the binding. I gave this quilt to a dear friend of our family.  It is my hope that it makes her smile.

This was a QAL from Sew Kind of Wonderful and made using their Metro Twist pattern and the Quick Curve Ruler. Further instructions were given on their blog. I set my blocks with sashing and cornerstones.

Metro Scope was made using the Quick Curve Ruler from Sew Kind of Wonderful. I love the fabrics I chose for this quilt.

This is from the Midnight at the Oasis pattern by Jen Kingwell. It was made during a QAL hosted by HeartSong Quilts of Hot Springs, SD. I used machine piecing, paper piecing, and invisible machine applique.

This is the Urban Nine Patch quilt from Sew Kind of Wonderful using their Quick Curve Ruler. I used Kaffe fabrics and set the blocks on point.

Made for my daughter, who loves cats.

Maggie was inspired by a line in a Rod Stewart song, "That morning sun shinning  in your eyes really shows your age." Kind of cruel, I thought.

I made this quilt for the 2014 SAQA 25th Anniversary Trunk Show. It is currently traveling with the show, and has been shown throughout Australia.

It is about 5 inches x 7 inches in size, and has black and white cotton fabrics, dupioni silk, and narrow corduroy fabrics. It has machine and hand needle-felted embellishments, with some hand embroidery, and buttons.

The embellishments represent wishes for the new year.

This is my 2015 IQA silent auction quilt I am calling "Dots and Dashes". It is a modern art quilt with an important message. There are times we get lost in all the chaos that goes on in our life. We need to just stop, take a moment, pause, and reflect on what is important in life. "Dots and Dashes" spells out a message in Morse code. It says, "Live every moment, Love every day,  Because before you know it precious time slips away." It was a fun quilt to make. Measures 17" x 31".

A miniature adaptation of "Feather Bed," a quilt designed by Ana Maria Horner (anamariahornerblogspot.com). The original pattern uses strip-pieced units for the feathers. Since I wanted a mini, I used whole pieces of fabric for the sides of the feathers and 2" by 4" blocks instead of  4.5" by 9" blocks. These measurments enabled me to keep within the miniature quilt guidelines for quilt shows. I re-sized it in Electric Quilt 7. It won a blue ribbon in the Lone Star Heritage Quilt Guild Show, 2015 and a blue ribbon and Judges's Choice in the Mineola League of Arts Show, 2015. I have made one full sized feather block from the pattern and plan to make a full-size quilt.
 

I too needed a "quick" baby quilt and after seeing the episode where Alex Anderson gave instructions for such a quilt I started working on it. I had just such a cute owl fabric for it...
After all the piecing the whole quilt, I felt it was too empty in the middle and told myself, it just can't be that hrad to draw a little owl... So here it is.
Another great idea I used from one of the shows with Pat Holly, where she decorated her background fabric - well I did the same for the owl body fabric, which of course then meant that I had to turn the edge under before doing the machine applique.
 

I took a class with Marian McCoin (a local quild member) based on Ricky Tims' Kool Kaleidoscope Quilts method and this was my result.  I also watched a class by Patsy Thompson on hyper quilting, so I thought I'd try that out, too.  Quilted on a Handi Quilter Sweet Sixteen sit down machine with Exquisite polyester thread.

This is a lone star baby quilt, with a pieced checkerboard/woven background behind the star. This quilt was a gift to a friend, for her newly adopted baby girl; the basketweave background is symbolic of the birth mother and the adoptive mother, woven together through this precious little girl. The Lone Star was chosen because of ties to Texas, and the ribbon fabric and theme in the quilting symbolize the baby's name, Jubilee. This quilt was meant to scream "celebration!" as loud as the baby's name does; I think it worked! I hope. 

The star was strip pieced and then cross cut and assembled, the background was pieced in the traditional method, and because of the pieced background there was no way to do this without the traditional Y seams, so the quilt was assembled as half-stars (the 4 star points joined), then the background pieces inset between the diamonds, then the outside ribbon fabric added, and finally the 2 halves joined together across the middle. 

This was my first time making a Lone Star, and my first time doing anything with Y seams, at all. 

Quilting was done with my walking foot, including the bow detail in the outside corners.

This quilt and pillows I made for my grandson Birthday. Design of quilt belongs to me, but I used the Pontiac Star block that I found in the book of Jinny Beyer. 

I needed a quick baby quilt design for a my daughter's friend.  I had just watched the recent show featuring Alex's design to make a just that.  I decided to make it and quilt it myself. Most of my quilts are quilted by a wonderful long armer but I didn't have time to wait so I did it myself.
