A '30's Revival
Name of Maker: ashibut
A '30's Revival - I have been making quilts using old handkerchiefs, and this one uses four survivors of the seven "This is the Way We .... early Monday, etc. Morning" hankies I had as a child. (I had five, so used the fifth in the label on the back.) To make the pinwheels I opened and pressed old yo yos made by my aunt in the 1930's. I used additional yoyos as embellishment. The border was a piece of vintage fabric, and to spice up the whole thing I used rick-rack found in my Mother's sewing box, marked 25 cents, so it was obviously old, too.
Vacation At the Springs
Name of Maker: ashibut
Vacation At the Springs - My husband loved to hunt down and visit all the springs in Virginia, and he loved the book which told about so many of them. I made this for him as a surprise for our 32nd wedding anniversary. He was delighted with it. A full page photograph of it was printed in the May/June 1990 #69 issue of the now defunct magazines, "Lady's Circle Patchwork Quilts," the issue concentrating on both new and old quilts in Virginia.
Old Feathers Made New
Name of Maker: ashibut
Old Feathers Made New - Our Guild had a challenge for 2000: using a pattern that existed in 1900, make a quilt for the year 2000. We were given 3 neutral/beige fabrics to be included, and we could add some of our own. I had never seen a Princess Feather pattern on a black background, & thought that might be a modern touch. I added the gold centers, and realized more color was needed. The vine border was made by piecing together lengths of left over bias cut for bindings of other quilts. There are too many leaves in the border to count. It is hand appliqued and hand quilted.
Flowers for Olivia
Name of Maker: Marilyn Altenback
Flowers for Olivia - Love this pattern. Easy to do...with the one exception that unless you want to do a set in seam in the center, you have to match any complicated (or not) fabric to make it appear seamless.

Reflections of the Past
Name of Maker: StiinaQT
Reflections of the Past - A collection of blocks from various quilt shops using William Morris Civil War Reproduction prints. I made a few fabric changes in the finishing portion, but generally followed the design. It is quilted on my long arm using feathers, feathers and yes, more feathers. The batting is a thin layer of cotton and Hobbs Tuscany Wool on top to increase loft and provide definition for the feathers.
Jellyroll Adventure
Name of Maker: StiinaQT
Jellyroll Adventure - Heart & Home is a jellyroll quilt made from a gift jellyroll of Kansas City Troubles fabric. The original design stopped at the first resting strip and had a few more rounds of 2 1/2 strips. I added the yo-yo vine border and a wider, single fabric focal print from the same fabric line.
Machine Paths Quilting
Name of Maker: rebyeby
Machine Paths Quilting - This was my very first attempt at machine quilting of any type. Since the quilt top itself was an experiment in design, I made the quilting an experiment as well. First I tried the walking foot, gave up on that and went to freehand. After a few swirls and such, I tried doodling with drawing, and had lots of fun just seeing what the needle would produce!
Livia's Birth
Name of Maker: Jane Dickerson
Livia's Birth - This was made as a present for my friend's little girl, Livia, who was born in September 2009. I made my friend's wedding dress the year previously and the white waistcoat in the quilt is made from the wedding dress fabric.

Name of Maker: Lynne Crocker
Rabbit Patch - Made for my sister-in-law, Joan's grandson, Grant. Before rotary cutters (for me anyway) and each piece was separately cut (before I knew better). Grant still has this quilt and is a favorite possession even though he is 12.
