Tumbling Blocks - This is one of my favorite quilts. The purple and teal diamonds are all different fabrics, the light diamonds are repeated (approx. 10-12 fabrics). It was constructed using Sara Nephew's technique for 60 degree diamonds.

Dinner With VAn Gogh - This quilt was made in response to the Hoffman Challenge in 2003. The cahllenge fabric is the allover cherry design. I used Van Gogh's painting called "Cafe Terrace at Night" as my inspiration. The quilt did not receive an award but traveled in one of the Hoffman trunck shows for a year.

Happy 25th Anniversary - I bought this orchid fabric knowing that I would make something for my mom, who grows orchids. My folks 25th wedding anniversary was the perfect occasion.

Glass Bottles - I made this quilt for my daughter. We picked out the fabrics on a trip to Victoria, BC. We call it the "Million Dollar Quilt" because we didn't look at the price of the fabric. When we got to the check out we didn't say a thing, but a good chuckle all the way down the street. We had forgotten we were in Canada and would have to pay much, much higher prices. As a quilter...who cared!

Dragonfly - My son kept asking me when we'd actually keep one of the quilts I make. I found this pattern in one of the Kansas City Star books, it's from 1934. By the time I'd finished the top I was so tired of paper-piecing that I purchased a commercially made pieced backing, so the quilt is reversible. I felt sorry for my machine quilter, who had to work around some pretty thick intersections where so many fabrics convened (but she did it with style -- as always!)

60th Wedding Anniversary - I saw the Simply Quilts show with Ami Simms on photo album quilts and thought it was a perfect idea for a 60th anniversary gift for my parents. My sister agreed with the idea and, best of all, agreed to do most of the work. Neither of us had ever made a quilt before, so we thought we were starting plenty early. It was September, 1999, and our parents celebrated their 60th anniversary in May, 2000. We selected 129 photos, a newspaper announcement of their marriage, a piece of music Dad wrote, and my artist daughter painted a small design for the quilt - 133 photo transfers in all. By May, my sister had machine pieced the quilt together and had also done enough quilting to present it to Mom and Dad at their anniversary celebration. We completed the quilting, all by hand, before they celebrated their 65th anniversary!

Waltzing Stars in the Garden

Windows To The Past - This quilt was a gift to Marilyn to who I owe my love of quilting. She taught me to quilt. These are pictures of her and her children that I collected and made into this quilt. The blocks are machine pieced. Each block or picture square has hand embroidered silk ribbons of flowers, lady bugs, bees, etc. The picture does not do it justice.

Chintz Roses - I purchased this kit from the internet and made it as a gift for my Dad's wife, Janice for Christmas-2005. This kit contained very easy instructions and was simple to put together. I machine quilted it in one afternoon. Jan loves her quilt, but prefers not to use as she doesn't want to get ruined. I am flattered, but I like my quilts to be used and loved.

Lavender Visions - This is the second quilt I made in 1995. It was also the first time I ever spent more than $3.00 on a yard of fabric. I just had too! I was in a local quilt store in Missoula, Montana and saw this toile fabric and couldn't resist. I machine pieced the quilt together and with the assistance of Alex Anderson and a "Simply Quilts" episode teaching viewers to hand quilt, I hand quilted the entire finished quilt. You cannot visibly see the progression of my stitches, but I can! I started by getting very few stitches per inch, maybe 6 or 7. By the end of the quilting process I was getting anywhere from 10 to 12 per inch. This quilt is currently on my quilt rack and is a favorite for snuggling in the winter with my cats.
