Design Source - Description | I saw the Simply Quilts show with Ami Simms on photo album quilts and thought it was a perfect idea for a 60th anniversary gift for my parents. My sister agreed with the idea and, best of all, agreed to do most of the work. Neither of us had ever made a quilt before, so we thought we were starting plenty early. It was September, 1999, and our parents celebrated their 60th anniversary in May, 2000. We selected 129 photos, a newspaper announcement of their marriage, a piece of music Dad wrote, and my artist daughter painted a small design for the quilt - 133 photo transfers in all. By May, my sister had machine pieced the quilt together and had also done enough quilting to present it to Mom and Dad at their anniversary celebration. We completed the quilting, all by hand, before they celebrated their 65th anniversary! |
