Broken Star
Name of Maker: Cindy Wilson
Broken Star - This one is still in the TOP stage, as I've been taking lots of machine quilting classes preparing for doing a good job for this quilt. This quilt was created during an online class through Quilt University.
KaleidoFlower
Name of Maker: Cindy Wilson
KaleidoFlower - This quilt was so much fun to make! I tend to be compulsive/obsessive and couldn't stop making the kaleidoscope blocks...each one was different, AND, it looked different when the individual block pieces were laid out than they looked when sewn together, so I got double the fun while piecing the quilt. I had all of the blocks sewn together within 24 hours of starting the quilt (during a class). This quilt is featured in the book "One Block Wonders" by Maxine Rosenthal. She was teaching the technique while her book was being prepared, and asked to include this quilt in her book. I was so honored. It is also featured on the back of the book AND was on the front cover of C&T Publishings Spring/Summer 2006 catalog.
Rhapsody in Purple
Name of Maker: Cindy Wilson
Rhapsody in Purple - This quilt was hand appliqued and hand quilted over the course of several years. It survived a housefire nearly intact, except for a small smudge of soot in one area where it was accidentally stepped on. Most of the soot came out. This was a work of blood sweat, and tears, and I very much treasure this quilt.
New York Uglies
Name of Maker: eatonjan
New York Uglies - A group of friends decided we wanted to get rid of our excess "stash" of what had now become ugly fabrics...to make room for new better ones...so we pooled em all together and each made what came to be affectionately known as the New York Uglies. Since we were using "ugly" fabric, we didn't care how much we used up and cut off or wasted in the paper piecing technique. We were delighted with how beautiful they all came out even though we were all using what we thought of as ugly fabrics. We shared and traded. It's true what they say, "One man's trash is another man's treasure."
God is Good, God is Great
Name of Maker: eatonjan
God is Good, God is Great - I made this quilt mostly from my children's old clothes. They are truly angels to me. I swapped services with a talented friend who machine quilted it for me in exchange for piecing some blocks into a top for her. In the photograph, the quilt is hanging in town at Templeton's second annual outdoor quilt show.
Sunflower Seranade
Name of Maker: Amy Reitzel
Sunflower Seranade - The background is a blended convergence but I designed the two of the 3-D sunflowers and used a fabric folded one for the third sunflower.
