Old Dirt Manor - My husband drew the owl after we bought our property, called Old Dirt Manor. We had it cut in iron and it hangs on our front gate and on our house. I thought it would be fun to hang one in the house too.
Swirl Land - This quilt is fused and machine quilted. It was made for my grand-daughter who named it because she saw the swirls in the outer blocks and thats what she calls this quilt!
Everday Flowers - This wall quilt is fused, machine quilted and will be embellished. I am still working on this. I sent some flowers to my mom once and she told me to give her something that will last. So instead of sending her real flowers, which I like to do, I decided to send her flowers that will last!
Wine Country Picnic - Imagining a picnic in our local valley with wineries and summer balloons floating overhead, as well as a view of Mt. Ranier which looks beautiful on clear summer days.
Fantasy Fish - This quilt is really a spin off of an earlier collage style fish quilt, although this one started with my sketches of imaginary fish and other sea life.
Wild Waves - Design for this quilt began with the Hoffman print and a block I had created on my computer. After playing with many layouts, I felt this was my favorite.
Dragonfly Pond - The waterlilies in a local marina kept calling to me, as well as dragonflies , so I decided to pair them together on a single block wallhanging.
Compulsive Behaviour - "Dear Jane" - This quilt is taken from Jane Stickles quilt of 1864. I began piecing in November 1999 using strip piecing, foundation and hand applique. After I finished a row, I had to start the next. The main part of the quilt was pieced by February of 2000. A month later I started on the border. Again the same thing happened. Each pie shaped piece is different and it just kept pulling me in. Around June it was all together. I machine quilted along all the sashing and then began hand quilting. It was finished in January 2001. I loved doing this quilt. Every block was different and I was able to use reproduction fabrics from the early 1900's along with other fabrics I had been collecting.
the redecorated cabin - a traditional log cabin quilt that I have overlaid voile, I love shadow aplique and wanted to know what would happen if I overlaid a pieced block. Then I had loads of fun quilting with an all over doodle design.
The Ultimate Challenge - This wall hanging is a result of a class taken with Sally Collins at Empty Spools, Asilomar. We built upon a 12" block adding many boarders. It was a real challenge but a fun class.
Save the Last Dance for Me - The photos were of each year my granddaughter was in dance. I made this for her last year dance.
I used t-shirt transfers for the photos. I had an allergic reaction to the detergent that I washed the fabrics in and my mom had to quilt it for me. I had to take benedryl so I could finish the peicing. It really turned out better than the picture shows. She loved the fan design she saw when I took her to a local quilt show. How the fans are put together reminded me of a tu-tu. So it fit right in with the theme.
Tracey & Dawn's Wedding Quilt - This is a collective scrap quilt using fabrics left over from garments. I was making this my daughter but when I put the green in she decided she didn't want it. My son had just gotten engaged and my new dil to be loved it and the colors were perfect for their new home. She purchased some very expensive lace for the wedding that she couldn't use anywhere else. So..I appliqued sections of the lace on each blank block. It really dressed up the plain triple irish chain. It has their wedding date at the bottom embroidered on by machine. It is a heirloom treasure for them.
