Tessellating Pinwheels - This quilt was interesting to make. First you sew squares together, then cut the quilt with a square pattern set on a diagonal on the joined squares, twist the blocks and sew them back together to make the pinwheel design. The book is called Square Dance, by Martha Thompson.

Great Eastern Sun - Friends of mine are Buddhists, and came for a visit. While here, they discussed the concept of the Great Eastern Sun. I wanted to make a quilt wall hanging for them. I've experimented with embroidering little mirrors on it to look like small stars in the background.

Butterfly Angel - The quilt pattern in the book was incorrect, so I changed the angles, and decided to go brighter and use mostly batiks. I machine quilted in the ditch in the main seams, but in the small strip seams, and inside the white blocks, I hand quilted. The border is completely handquilted too, with butterflies. My favorite motif in this quilt, is a butterfly angel, which I quilted in two of the white diamonds. It was inspired by a song "Butterfly Angel" by my friend and very talented singer, John Suchocki, a PhD Chemist who also has a secondary love in the arts, as do I.

Blocks From Sylvia's Bridal Sampler, by Elm Creek - Jennifer has 140 blocks on her site, which are selected once a week.. those of us who want to work for 140 weeks go one at a time, some of us run out of time/health... and stop early. I used the 40 blocks I had completed to that point, and played around until I found a decent layout and assembled, then quilted them.

Courtney's Snuggling and Reading Quilt - This quilt was made for my daughter's friend. She has three boys, and was trilled to find out this one was a girl. My daughter told me that I had to use pink. This is the best I could do!

Alex's Snuggling and Reading Quilt - I made this for my daughter's friend's first baby boy, Alex. I used fun fabrics, also fabrics that will have meaning for Alex, such as roses that are pretty like his Mommy. I made it big so he could share with Mommy and Daddy for snuggling and reading. Two important things for a baby!

Missy's Wedding Quilt - I took the Barn Raising pattern and adapted it to have a different center. I didn't see that star until I printed off the pattern. The whole quilt was stitched in the ditch.

Judy's Drunkard's Path - This quilt was made using a small drunkard's path pattern. The mauve was quilted using a template I made. The blue is cross hatched.

My Secret Garden

Black Sawtooth Stars - This was the first quilt that I made in a class using after being taught how to cut and piece accuarately. I love Amish Quilts!

Nell's Pink Quilt - Girlie Pink Scrappy quilt from a mix and match cutting plan in London Lawns and chintzes

Shot 2 Pieces - Shot cottons and gold lame. Hand drafted, F.P.P. centre. Quilted with swirling worms!

Separated Spheres - I had never done curved piecing and wanted to give it a try after watching an episode of simply quilts that showed how easy it really was. I came up with the idea after several sketches then put the top together. I then went back to sketching to decide what quilting designs would look best. I quilted vertical lines in the white areas, arcs in the circles and squares and rectangles in the blue stripes. This is one of the first quilts I made. Since I have learned the importance of pinning!

Wild Animals - This quilt isn't finished, but made for my 3 year old daughter's room.

Monarch - I designed this quilt from a picture I took of a Monarch hanging from a purple coneflower.

White Daffodils - This quilt was made from one of my watercolor paintings. It was a fun quilt to make and I plan on making more quilts from my paintings.

Charmed Stars - This quilt was made using blocks from my LQS block swap. I added blue fabric to unify the quilt

stars on a string - I love making string quilts and having made several I decided they do not have to be boring. I used the dark side and light side to create different layout designs. What fun that was.
