Mushrooms and Elephant Ears
Name of Maker: Barbara Zuazua
Mushrooms and Elephant Ears - This quilt was inspired by a japanese quilter's technique of shredding fabrics, arranging them as if painting, and then trapping it in place with tule and free motion quilting (I saw this on Simply Quilts- Spring 2006). She used a long arm, I used a home machine. I was testing different fabrics, yarns, beads, paint, applique, and turned lames into confetti.

3 D Challenge
Name of Maker: Jeanie Dodd
3 D Challenge - I began this quilt several years, but stopped to care for my Mother until she passed away. I just completed the top but have yet to quilt it. I plan to quilt it on my domestic long arm but am waiting until I gain more confidence. This quilt will live on the bed in my guest room and my kids can fight over it after I am gone. HEE HEE All the fabrics were hand dyed and came in a kit prepared by Sandy Barker of Dallas.
Blue Bonnet for Bobby
Name of Maker: Jeanie Dodd
Blue Bonnet for Bobby - This was my first attempt at strip piecing and was a class taught at Outdoor Resorts in Port Isabel, Texas, by guild members from the Rio Grand Guild of Harlingen, Texas. My brother was born in Texas and since the Blue Bonnet is the State flower I made this for his wedding gift.
Sisters
Name of Maker: Jeanie Dodd
Sisters - This was my first experience using plastic templates. The quilt was easy to make. The colors were chosen by my younger sister for her lake home. I used Christmas fabric on the back so that it would be reversible.
Vicky's Heirloom
Name of Maker: Jeanie Dodd
Vicky's Heirloom - This was my first attempt at Seminole Patchwork, which I used in the borders. It was also the first large quilt that I hand quilted. My daughter cherishes it.
Class Act
Name of Maker: Jeanie Dodd
Class Act - I took a class by Mary Ellen Hopkins and learned this pattern. It is quilted in gold metallic thread which really makes it an elegant quilt. The colors were chosen for my son.
Heartwood
Name of Maker: Jeanie Dodd
Heartwood - I was commissioned to make this quilt for The Heartwood Institute, which is a reading program that teaches good values to children in many public school systems.
Tucson Cactus

Tucson Cactus - Created as part of the 2007 Journal Quilt exhibit at Houston's Quilt Festival
Poppin' Poppies!
Name of Maker: Mary Anne Strauss
Poppin' Poppies! - I was commissioned by my friend, Jan, to make this pattern for her. She loved the poppy fabric. The other colors complement an area rug in her foyer. The machine appliqued poppies embellishment really made this quilt pop! It is densely free-motion quilted.
Beware My Little Darlings
Name of Maker: Barbara Zuazua
Beware My Little Darlings - This is a story quilt inspired by the poem "The Spider and the Fly", a cautionary childrens tale written by Mary Howitt in 1821. I discovered the illustraed story by Tony DiTerlizzi by accident and was completely drawn in by the eerie illustrations and the dark tale. I wanted to do my own illustration in the form of a quilt.
Duane's Tiki Hut
Name of Maker: Hildur
Duane's Tiki Hut - This is adapted from the book Tropical Paradise by Judy Hansen, owner of Quilt Shop of Deland. I had a great time making this for my brother.
Folk Art Log Cabin
Name of Maker: Lilo Bowman, TQSWizard
Folk Art Log Cabin - My first foray into applique'. I did heavy quilting around the applique' pieces. This was done at a week long retreat while we were living in Okinawa, Japan. I chose bright colors as they appealed to me more than the traditional homespun in the orginal pattern.
Galaxy of Stars
Name of Maker: LinJoa
Galaxy of Stars - Back when I was a fairly new quilter I saw this pattern in a magazine and naively ordered it. It was a challenge at the time and took awhile!
The Dreamcatcher's Gift
Name of Maker: Nancy Altman
The Dreamcatcher's Gift - I made this quilt for my grand-daughter who has very bad dreams and a vivid imagination. It is covered in Southwest dreamcatchers to catch all her bad dreams. She truly believes, so it has worked beautifully.
