Mom's Arizona Project - Purchased as 2 fabric kits from Prairie Star Quilts in Elkhorn, IA. The fabric is all Civil War reproduction. I became overwhelmed with it and my mother wanted a sewing project during her winter time in Phoenix last year, so she ended up putting most of the blocks together. We then got together this spring and sewed the blocks into rows.

Karen's Christmas Flower Fairies - I ordered the fabric pack and "door" quilt pattern from Keepsake Quilting. This was my first solo longarm quilting project on the rental longarm at my local quilt shop.

New York Beauty - Published in July/August 2004 magazine, originally made by Mabeth Oxenreider.

Kaelin's Quilt - I fell in love with this Lakehouse fabric, especially the hot pink and orange!

Winter Snowflake - I adapted this paperpieced block to make a wallhanging. I was curious to try the technique and didn't want to make a full sized quilt.

2001: A Quilt Odyssey - When I wanted to make a charm quilt to mark the new millennium, I did not want to collect 2001 fabrics; Sharon Newman remarked that the quilt did not have to have 2001 fabrics, just what I wanted to include. Therefore, this quilt has a piece of every print fabric that I owned, including some fabrics from my maternal grandmother's stash, and some fabrics that were donated by friends, a total of 1124 print fabrics. It took a while to cut the fabrics and decide on the design, so it was not finished until much later. The longarm quilting was beautifully done by Lona Schwab of Midland, TX. This is one of the quilts that I am proudest of, a memorial to quilters in the past, a momento for the future.

Country Road - When my husband went with me to the Dallas Quilt Show last March (his first time at a quilt show) he enjoyed Cynthia England's quilts, so we purchased several patterns. I purchased the fabric kits later and pieced this quilt over Thanksgiving weekend.

Happy Birthday, Linda - This is a "birthday card" for Linda McGann, one of my colleagues at South Plains College.

New Year's Resolutions 2006 - Instead of writing down resolutions for 2006, I made a small wall hanging, including resolutions such as being more creative, locking Frump Girl in the closet, limiting Fat Girl's chocolate consumption, and loving more and better. Although 2006 has come and gone, I still consider this wall hanging to be a work in progress, with more embellishments to come. By the way, I did not keep all my resolutions, especially the one about the chocolate.

Self-Portrait - This self-portrait was a response to a challenge in Quilting Arts magazine, based on an article by Yvonne Porcella; it truly was a challenge, forcing me outside of my "comfort zone," a place where I plan to be more and more often.

Fonts - The foundation for this wall hanging is a sandwich of backing, batting, and background fabric, finished pillowcase style. I then layered rectangles of fabric with printing and typeface on the background and secured them with bigstick quilting to suggest the lines of a Big Chief writing tablet. The edges are raw and the ends of some of the quilt threads are hanging, suggestive of the unfinished look of some early manuscripts.

Black and White and Re(a)d All Over - This wall hanging was made for the decoration of the main office of the English department of South Plains College. I had collected fabrics with writing and printing, especially Lonni Rossi prints, and used those plus one print that I made by printing on fabric, and a red print; I was attempting to suggest the way that English instructors use their time, grading a swirl of essays and other papers.

My Bright Kalidiscope - This was so much fun to make, and was not as hard to do as it looks. Each enlarging circle made a surprise. I plan to apply the piping as Ricky suggests, and make more.

The Osmond bag - I have been an Osmond fan for 34 years now! And I try to go and see them al over the world whenever I can! Last august they celebrated their 50th anniversary in Las Vegas and yes, I did go and see them! It was amazing!!! So, for this special occasion I made myself a patchwork bag wit all my favourite Osmond pictures! I got some great responses from the other fans! Just fantastic! And it's a great travel companion ! The bag did turn out way too big becuase I just couldn't decide which pictures to leave out! I'm so in love with this oversized, cuddly bag I just adore it! Brigitte,Belgium

Monterrey Medallion - Interestingly enough, the year I made this, our quild decided to use this pattern as our Raffel quilt
