Elegant Sunbonnet Sue - This is a quilt my grandmother made for me when I was a little girl. The Sue's are all hand stitched in a blanket stitch. I don't know if my grandmother every made other quilt. This is the only one I know of. She was more of a needlworker and knitter.
I need to do some repair work to this quilt to get it back into good condition.
HANDS ALL AROUND - QUILT IS MADE OF 4ROWS/4 BLOCKS EACH. EACH ROW IS A DESIGN MADE WITH EACH OF MY FOUR GRANDCHILDREN - SHOWING THINGS THEY LOVE. EACH CHILD HAD HIS/HER HAND TRACED UPON FOLDED PAPER, UNFOLDED AND VOILA! A WREATH - OR HANDS ALL AROUND.
THIS QUILT IS THEIR FRIDAY NIGHT ON THE FLOOR, MOVIES AND POPCORN QUILT. THEY LOVE IT AND ARE ALL INTERESTED IN KNOWING HOW TO MAKE QUILTS. I WOULD RATHER THEY LOVE THEIR QUILTS, THAN PUT THEM UP FOR THE FUTURE. WHAT A JOY TO MAKE.
Snow fall - This quilt was made my by good friend Heather as a part of our Guild's Brown Bag Challenge. I supplied her with the pattern and some fabric and she put it together for me. I love it!!!
Kitty Cat Quilt - This is a quilt I designed and made for our Guild's Ugly Fabric challenge. I used a bit of EVERY piece of ugly fabric given to me. :o)
Turquoise Jewel Box - I like this design: simple and striking! I Included the following "jewels" in this quilt: Sapphire, peridot, opal, pearl, lapis lazuli, amethyst, aqumarine and my favorite: turquoise! Now my daughter and I are arguing about who gets it on their bed. Unfortunately, I did promise it to her...
Sunset Garden - I purchased the batik flower pieces several years ago and when my niece gave me some fat quarters she had purchased in New Zealand, I knew just how to use them. I added several batiks from my stash and found the perfect border fabric at a quilt show.
Stillwater - This quilt was made over a couple of years - started from a class by the teacher who designed the pattern. Blocks were laid out several times, in several locations, before it was finally finished.
Snow Flake Flowers - This quilt design uses two different flower blocks totaling 64 blocks! This was my first paper pieced project and it sure won't be my last!
Daiseys - This is the quilt that I made for my son's 9th grade class to raffle off. I only had a couple weeks to get it ready because Alex didn't tell me that he volunteered the gift.
falling leaves before the storm - this was a quilt made for a sub-group of the Sunset Slope Quilters Guild of grand juction, co.. it was made as an example for the group. we were and are all learning different types of quilting techniques. it was fabulous to see the direction we all took, the interpretations were unique. and we had a blast making them and then taking them to show-and-tell.
the fabrics used were batiks, which looked like a fall storm threatening the first snow of the season. and various fall looking fabrics with small prints.
self portrait "all that glitters" - this was a challenge quilt by the Art Quilt Guild of Grand Junction, Colorado. i was a new member and never had made an "art" quilt, so i had no idea what i was doing...my husband loves this quilt, by the way. i used many different techniques from ripping fabric to bending wire. great fun! next time i will attempt a picassoesque approach or maybe a rhapsodyesque approach. is this a new vocabulary?, as well?
HUGS ABD KISSES - I knew that the mother recieving this quilt loved butterflies and ladybugs. The fabric I found for this quilt had it all sparkles and lots of beautiful bugs. I hadn't embroardered in about 20 years but did it anyways. It turned out alright considering the time lapse. The new Mommy and Gramma was thrilled.
Two Birds of Happiness - I made this memorial quilt based on a 3x5 photo that someone had taken of my parents on their boats. My dad passed away May 2007, and my mom in 2005.
Moonlight Swim - This quilt is made entirely of hand dyed cotton. It was then machine pieced and quilted. The quilt has a dark, "watery" feel to it hence the title "Moonlight Swim".
