Dad's North of the 49
Name of Maker: Heather Gordon
Dad's North of the 49 - I made this quilt for my dad. He is a big camper and woodsman and he and my mother used to take two week canoe trips into the interior of northern ontario. they stopped doing this about 5 years ago since my father doesn't want to carry a canoe anymore,(he is in his mid 80s), but they still enjoy camping. This quilt pattern embodies everything he loves about the north. I gave it to him for christmas and he absolutely loves it. It was my first attempt at applique and it also contains my first attempt at paper piecing. (There is a small canadian flag near the bottom)
Purple Pansies
Name of Maker: Heather gordon
Purple Pansies - I made this quilt for the friend who got me into quilting and taught me the basics. Her favorite flower is pansy and her favorite colour is purple. the colours in this quilt echo the colours of a quilt that she made me.
Sister-in-law in sapphire and gold
Name of Maker: Heather Gordon
Sister-in-law in sapphire and gold - I enjoy using this pattern, I have found that it showcases fabrics really well. I made this two tone version for my other sister-in-law. Blue was her favorite colour and the colour of her engagement ring.
Small Crimson beauty
Name of Maker: Heather gordon
Small Crimson beauty - This is a smaller version of a crimson and black turning twenty again that I made for myself. My sister-in-law liked it so much that she asked me to make one for her. I didn't have enough of any one fabric to do a six inch border so I made three separate borders. It turned out pretty good.
Black notes
Name of Maker: Heather Gordon
Black notes - This is the second quilt I ever made. It was for my sister-in-law. Her favorite colour is black, so I made it all in black. Unfortunately, it turned out too small, so I have since made her another.
Lex's Oriental Comfort
Name of Maker: Heather Gordon
Lex's Oriental Comfort - I made this for my oldest friend for when she was recovering from surgery. She still naps under it. I was surprised that I was able to part with some of my precious oriental fabrics but I guess friendship runs deep.
Blue Memories
Name of Maker: Heather gordon
Blue Memories - This was a memory quilt my sister-in-law asked me to make for a friend of hers who had lost her son in a drowning accident the year before. Her favorite color was blue so I did it all in blue and swapped out some of the blocks for pictures I printed on fabric with a slight blue cast. Her friend loved it and keeps it in her son's room. She wrote me a beautiful note to thank me for making it.
