I learned how to make my own cotton fabric using acrylic paints and a Gelli Arts Printing Plate. The round circles are made that way. The outer fabric is hand-dyed. This is an original design for the quilt top and the quilting. The quilt is embellished with colorful hot glue crystals
This quilt was made from the designs in the Book called Jacobean Rhapsodies by Patricia Campbell and Mini Ayars
This is an original design for the quilt top and the quilt's quilting.
This wholecloth was the second in my wholecloth series for my Original Works art quilt group, though the third that I'd made. It's smaller than my others, but has an impromptu border due to a combination of me measuring incorrectly and shrinkage. It is batik front and back with Dream Orient batting. It is stretched on a frame instead of bound. I used Superior Rainbows, Superior Glitter, Sulky Holoshimmer, and Hilo Iris polyester. I named it cyanobacteria because of its blues and greens, but the layers of feathers do have a stromatolite feel to me. Quilted on my hand-guided APQS Millie.
The third in my wholecloth series, although the fifth that I made. I keep having to get baby quilts made! This one just screamed to me about sunlight and plants and chlorophyl! Part of my experiment in doing this series (for my Original Works art quilters group, but also for sale) is using different types of "solids". This one is the first I've done on an actual solid. It is also rectangular and meant to be a customizable baby quilt, when it sells, I will stitch the baby's name in the center (or if not, when I give it away, since everyone I know is having babies!). Most of the threads are Superior Brytes, though there are a couple Floriani 40 weight poly embroidery threads and a couple variegated. This one has Dream Wool batting which is such a lovely washable wool for babies. The back is turquoise Shannon Cuddle fabric. I did piped binding so it is extremely washable.
One of a series of wholecloth quilts that I've designed and quilted for my Original Works art quilting group. This was the first I did with a general idea of a series (although my Maja quilt was created prior to this), and initially they didn't and maybe don't appear cohesive, but as I go along (I've completed 5), they've all spoken to me as a visual representation of certain scientific principles or theories. This one made me think of trilobites scuttling around as life boomed on earth. Although I toyed with calling it Persian Purple, I'm letting it stand with the others, despite its color. I used lots of different thread on this quilt, all but a few of which were metallic. I used Superior Metallic, Kreinik metallic, Superior Glitter, Sulky Holoshimmer, all with 100 weight silk on the back. Metallic threads are one of my obsessions. It, like all my larger quilts, was quilted on my APQS Millie. I have a stitch regulator, but it is hand-guided, as I'm sure the multitude of minor errors will attest. It has Dream Orient batting. The top is a purple shot cotton, the back was 54" moda muslin. It is stretched on a frame rather than bound. Look for it soon on Etsy!
I made this quilt for my niece, Freya. Her mom gave me the color scheme and said she'd like something modern. Since modern quilts are not really my thing, it was a fun adventure and challenge. It isn't truly modern but it's my own design and I'm happy with how it turned out. It has turquoise minkee on the back and I quilted her name before painting with Jacquard Lumiere fabric paints.
This was a pattern from Cozy Quilt Designs which I thought was very striking. I added the butterflies as an accent. After I added the large white border, I thought the quilt needed something more so added the feather motif using my Go cutter and a die from Sarah Vedeler. This quilt looks great on my couch & is handy on a cool night.
A baby quilt I designed for Baby James using the "bubble" pattern in the batik fabric that I bought in a shop in Texas while we were moving across country from Pennsylvania to Texas. I loved the rich aqua & blues in the 'bubble' batik and decided to save it until the right project presented itself. Not long after we moved in to our new home in Georgetown, we got the news that a family friend in California was expecting their 1st grand baby.
Combined Mediterranean Garden by Carol Morrissey and 1910 Revisited by Andrea Perejda. All hand appliquéd. Quilted feathers all over. Won a third place ribbon at my guild show. Will be in the In Full Bloom exhibit at the International Quilt Festival in 2016.
Little Miss Savanna was born on Easter Sunday. I made this quilt for her 'birthday' based on the theme that her Mom & Dad had used to decorate her nursery. It's crib size, personally quilted on my Bernina 830 and the raw edge applique design is an original done in all batiks with a bright pink Minky for backing.
Artist members of Cambridge Open Studios in the UK were asked to design and make a heart to raise money for a new hospice facility in Cambridge called The Arthur Rank Hospice. The total needed is £7M. The hearts will be on show at our Open Studios event this July then auctioned sometime later in the year.
This heart is my contribution. The piece is 28" square and made from five fat quarters and some white fabric by the metre.
I made this Quilt for my cousin hwo I spent a lot of weekends and summers with when I was very young. But after her parents divorsed I lost her. Efter bean separat for almost 33 years I found her on Facebook 6 month ago.
This dog is her beloved heart and her name is Blomma (Flower).
I wanted to express for my cousin Ingela how much I missed her and how much she ment to me by making this wallquilt for her.
She loves it and she almost started cry when I gave it to her. She expressed that this is the most beautiful thing some one ever done for her and given to her.
Love

This is the second in my series of quilts related to women down through history who have seen their men go off to war or other dangerous jobs for extended periods. It is something of a remake of the first in this series "Waiting...". This time, the woman has her young tween or early teen daughter with her who hasn't seen her father for over a year and she is a little nervous. I had a very difficult time making the sky. I painted four pieces, using Setacolor fabric paints and finally chose one and added more paints. Then I pieced the storm-at-sea part and pieced it together where it turns into the pictorial sea, but I ended up overdying them together after piecing so they melded better. I nearly quit making this quilt several times along the way, but it is finally finished. I used over thirty different colors of threads..most of which are variegated. The sea foam is represented by Angelina Fibers.
On the wings of an Eagle is an original eagle design built on a Bargello pattern flag. The bird is created with individual feathers that are made with Joan Shay's Petal Play technique. Every feather is individually sewn and the face is enhanced using Prismacolor pencils.
