American Quilt
Name of Maker: myself
American Quilt - Each month we were given a diagram & fabric for a block. We had to figure out how to put each block together. I finished piecing the top on July 4, flung it over the front porch railing & emailed the picture to my friends for an Independence Day greeting.
Mr. B's Colors
Name of Maker: myself
Mr. B's Colors - I purchased a packet of squares of one each of all the Benartex Fossil Fern colors. I made black/colored triangles using the back to back method - so this quilt has 300 squares of all 150 colors of the Fossil Fern colors available at that time. I sat on the floor with a color wheel to arrange the little blocks & am very happy with the results.
Eva's quilt
Name of Maker: Sharon Coleman
Eva's quilt - I made this quilt for my mother-in-law, who is one of the best quilters I know. I am new to quilting, inspired by the beautiful and loving handwork of my mother-in-law. Eva is in her 90's now and can no longer quilt. I hope to continue her legacy.
flannel pjs
Name of Maker: myself
flannel pjs - I purchased this quilt at a garage sale in Munster, IN. I was drawn to it because it looked like one of those old wool crazy quilts. It looked like it might have a flag on the top & purchased it quickly because it drew a crowd when the lady said "it's old - maybe 100 years because it was our Grandma's." When I got it home to check it out, I saw that the pieces of many different types of fabric - were stitched together with feather stitches & the quilt had red & white striped fabric on both the top & bottom, the front & the back. Lo & behold, it looks like red striped pajamas folded over the top & bottom edges of the quilt. Certainly a conversation piece. Although it was/is old, there was no musty odor whatsoever. I consider it a good deal for the $5 I paid for it. When I stopped back at the same house at a sale a couple years later, the lady told me she remembered seeing that I had it displayed with the antique quilts at my guild's quilt show the year before, but she was simply not interested in giving my any information about the quilt. Too bad.

attic windows
