Summer Fiesta
Name of Maker: Katherine Ferris Nicholson
Summer Fiesta - This quilt was the result of a design class with Marilyn Belford. It was an exercise in shape, color, proportion etc. It represents a hot and steamy summer day when a fiesta is about to take place.
Cabin by the Lake
Name of Maker: Billie Shannon
Cabin by the Lake - I made this quilt in response to a guild challenge. A log cabin was to be somewhere in the quilt. It could be either a traditional log cabin block or a cabin. The rest of the quilt was done using strips of fabric. It is embellished with animal buttons.
Vermont Field
Name of Maker: Katherine Ferris Nicholson
Vermont Field - This design depicts a typical summer day in Vermont. A field with wild flowers, cattails, lots of green, cool granite rocks, large elm and evergreen trees, crisp blue skies with white clouds, blue-green hills in the distance, and farmers fields with sheep. This is the perfect Vermont, as I want to remember it. -K. Nicholson
Memories of Scouting
Name of Maker: Billie Shannon
Memories of Scouting - I made this quilt to celebrate my youngest son becoming at Eagle Scout. The center of each block contains a photo of my son in a scout activity starting when he first started cub scouts. I quilted it using ideas that were significant to quilting. Choosing the pictures to include was like a trip down memory lane.
Seasons Change
Name of Maker: Katherine Ferris Nicholson
Seasons Change - “Seasons Change” was created after seeing early fall leaves that were bright and full of color begin to show up against a still luscious green backdrop leftover from summer. The leaf shapes were actual leaves fallen from my tree. The green beads were added to accentuate the lusciousness of the summer foliage and act as “dew” created by the cooling temperatures at night. Fall is a beautiful season when a transformation is occurring in nature and this quilt represents that change. - K. Nicholson
Purple Passion
Name of Maker: Katherine Ferris Nicholson
Purple Passion - Original Floral Design- I used a photograph of clematis growing on a garden trellis for inspiration. It is free-motion machine appliquéd and free-motion quilted. This piece represents healing and new growth both physically and spiritually and the recovery process following major surgery.
Neal's Jungle
Name of Maker: Billie Shannon
Neal's Jungle - I made this quilt for Neal when he completed a zoo management program. He is currently an elephant keeper.
Alaskana Brick Road
Name of Maker: Elaine Busse Floyd
Alaskana Brick Road - This quilt was made in a hurry when my friend (and ex-husband) needed emergency open heart surgery and was going to be medivacced to Seattle. He lives in a cabin over 100 miles from civilization, only accessible by boat or snowmachine (or dog sled!) depending on the time of year. It was a great reminder to him of home, and he recovered and is back in his cabin in the Alaskan wilderness.

Thank you to Jennifer Chiaverini who gave her approval for her pattern to be raffle quilt for a brand new guild's first show!

Life is an E Ticket Ride
Name of Maker: Ardy Tobin
Life is an E Ticket Ride - Made for a friend who had a rough year and said, "Life sure is an E ticket ride!" - - remembering the early years when Disneyland had ticket books and the scariest rides were the "E ticket" ones. I used Heidi Stoll Webber and hand dyed fabrics. The quilt is pieced with the roller coaster appliqued on top. Old Disneyland E tickets were scanned and printed on some of the lighter fabrics. The clouds are Angelina.
Springtime Impression
Name of Maker: Janet Elia
Springtime Impression - I first saw Rebecca Wat on Simply Quilts and fell in love with this quilt. I started folding batik fabrics creating the 125 folded flowers needed to make this quilt, tacked down eack flower point and added a pearl embellishment in the center of every flower. I even did my own machine quilting! The quilt won a first place ribbon in my guild's local show! Very exciting!

Out of the Inferno
Name of Maker: Ardy Tobin
Out of the Inferno - "Out of the Inferno" celebrates my daughter's recovery from a deep and frightening depression. I used fabrics from Caryl Bryer Fallert and Heidi Stoll Webber to symbolize rising from the dark of depression into the light. The fringe on the bottom is ultrasuede, torn fabric, beads and thread lace made from sewing on washaway stabilizer. The words, from Dante's Inferno, in Latin, translate as AND WE CAME FORTH AND ONCE AGAIN BEHELD THE STARS. I machine quilted it to look like fire.
