Marjie and Marc are married
Name of Maker: Marilyn Knepp
Marjie and Marc are married - My daughter has always told me that she wanted a double wedding ring quilt when she got married. I quilted lots of feathers in the ring centers and ovals and in the borders instead of the applique that the pattern included.

Red Rails
Name of Maker: Daisy Mier Fredericks
Red Rails - I love red and white. I made this for my son's 4th grade teacher, Judy Woodward. She is such a great teacher, so I wanted to thank her for all her hard work.
Pink Log Cabin
Name of Maker: Janice Simpson
Pink Log Cabin - My husbands nephew and wife were finally able to have a baby after a long process.I wanted to make them someting special. I had this book for months so this was a good time to try it out. This pattern worked up so quick; I was very pleased with it. I have since used it for another baby quilt and now finishing up a king size for my bed. I really like the rose pinks in this quilt.
Canning season
Name of Maker: Janice Simpson
Canning season - I saw a similar quilt at the Dallas Quilt show in 2006 and decided to try the pattern. I got the pattern off of the internet but had to make some corrections to make the lid fit. I collected the fabrics at the Dallas Quilt show, Jo-ann fabrics and my sister gave me the some fabrics. I was very pleased with the fabric I found for the jar lid, it has a nice stripe on it. I used a check for the base to look like the shelf paper that granny might have used. The backing and the binding is a multi vegetable print.
Camping Quilt
Name of Maker: Lynnely
Camping Quilt - I picked out features that were obviously connected with camping such as a trailer tent; marshmallows toasting round a campfire; a sleeping bag and a camping gaz light. I love forests and the stars. The actual designs determined how the blocks would be made. The trailer tent and camping gaz light lent themselves to foundation piecing, whilst the campfire and sleeping bag blocks said ‘appliqué’ to me. The sleeping bag was hand sewn, and I used Bondaweb for the campfire. I chose blue and green backgrounds as they are the dominant colours when in a field! Most of the fabric for the quilt came from my stash and I was delighted to be able to use so many of all the wonderful fabrics I had bought because I loved them. I thoroughly enjoyed hand sewing all the blocks over the winter months, and I machine sewed the sashing between the blocks, the Seminole and braid. The quilting was also done by machine with the feed dogs lowered.
Monet's Bargello
Name of Maker: Granny Fran
Monet's Bargello - I made this quilttop for my daughter, Michal Ann, because she loved Monet's pond paintings and I thought these colors would give this effect. This is another of my WIPs that have not been completed due to my strokes. This one is also going to be machine quilted by someone else. Michal has had to be patient long enough.
65 Years of Family
Name of Maker: Granny Fran
65 Years of Family - A photo album quilt made for my parents 65th wedding anniversary but never backed and quilted. I am sending this out to be machine quilted so that mother can hang it at the head of her bed. Another WIP to be finished this year (2009). The photos were printed on cotton fabric commercially since I had not yet learned how to print my own at that time.
Nine Patch Animals
Name of Maker: Granny Fran
Nine Patch Animals - Crib quilt top started for grandson, Alex. In my campaign to clean up my WIPs this year (2009) I am going to add additional borders to make it larger than a crib so that Alex can still use it. I am going to have someone else machine quilt it, since I've had two mini strokes that make it difficult for me to machine quilt (I haven't been able to hand quilt since I waited to learn to make quilts until I had severe arthritis in my hands.) I used the background quilt pattern but didn't add the appliqued basket and flowers in the original design.
Mystical Horses
Name of Maker: Granny Fran
Mystical Horses - WIP A crib quilt top made for great grandson, Shaun, designed using the striped fabric as borders around a Mystical Horse panel. The completion of the quilt was delayed when I had two mini strokes and was unable to do the machine quilting. I have decided to get my WIPs finished this year (2009) by having someone else do the machine quilting.

Crazy as a Bird Dog
Name of Maker: Stephanie Peterson
Crazy as a Bird Dog - I love this quilt. It was so much fun to do. The back is a soft velour/minky type fabric that is so soft to cuddle under. We keep this quilt on our couch and use it to keep warm while watching TV. My husband says it's his favorite quilt I've made. He likes the design, plus the softness of the back. I hand embroidered the names of "all the dogs I've loved before" on each dog on the quilt. We had a Chesapeake Bay Retriever named Chance, and one of the dogs on the quilt is named chance. When my husband would sing, "He's a good old hound dog to me...", Chance would howl and sing along with him. So, Kathy quilted, "He's a good old hound dog to me..." and a musical staff/notes on that block. This quilt has a lot of sentimental value to me because it makes me think of many of the best dogs I've had who have now passed on. It's a nice way to remember them.
