Sinai, interspersed with dimensional flowers (Rebeca Wat), self-printed Western Wall fabric with 12 tribes of Israel, Red Sea made of shaggy and hairy fabric that can be moved and "played with," machine embroidery done with Baby Lock Ellageo3 using installed fonts of word processor. Welcome Ethan Alexander
Name of Maker: Louisa Betts

Quilted Chanukah Post Card
Name of Maker: Louisa Betts
Quilted Chanukah Post Card - Catching up with posting! Hope it's OK to put up PC's because I love doing these to hone decorative quilting skills. For the 07 Festival of Lights, I zeroed in on the flame and digitized an applique design with Layout and Editing in PE Design 6. The blue part of the flame has the Hebrew letters that are found on the dreydel, which since the Diaspora stand for "A great miracle happened there," meaning in Israel. However, dreydels in Israel say "A great miracle happened here," and because I sent this card to a friend in Israel, I substituted the pey (stands for PO which means "here") for the shim (stands for SHAM) which means "there." I spent about 20 hours creating the design and about 1 1/2 hrs to make each card on my Baby Lock Ellageo3.
Red Fish, Blue Fish, Tic-Tac-Toe Fish
Name of Maker: Laura Barnes
Red Fish, Blue Fish, Tic-Tac-Toe Fish - This is the second of two quilts I made using the attic windows block and I was trying to achieve the effect of an aquarium within an aquarium. I only had a yard of the fish fabric and I fussy cut the fish to make them look like a game of tic-tac-toe.
Ventanas de los Muertos
Name of Maker: Laura Barnes
Ventanas de los Muertos - This quilt was actually started sometime in 2004. The top was finished then I lost interest because I wanted to make other quilts and my machine quilting skills were not that great yet. I wanted to more than just stitch in the ditch. My New Years resolution for 2008 was to quilt all of the tops I had made before I could start any more quilts and in so doing would improve my machine quilting. The focus fabric is from Alexander Henry, called fiesta de los muertos, thus the title Ventanas de los Muertos (Windows of the Dead).
Puzzle Quilt Blocks
Name of Maker: Laura Barnes
Puzzle Quilt Blocks - Paula Nadelstern's Puzzle Block Quilt book was the project chosen by the 9 am Saturday Sampler Class at my local quilt shop for 2007. Doing this quilt was probably one of the most rewarding and frustrating projects I ever worked on but I will never again look at a piece of fabric without first thinking how it would work in a puzzle block. Seeing Paula on The Quilt Show was wonderful and brought back all the memories of making this quilt last year.
