Shoes - I combined 2 patterns from Custom Creations to make this wall hanging for a bedroom that I redecorated. It was a lot of fun finding all the different fabrics.
Winter Scraps - I wanted a masculine looking quilt for a guest room. This was perfect as it allowed me to use up almost all the 6 in fabric swaps that I had.
Mary's Piping Hottie Macaroni - Our guild (River Valley Quilters) had a 1 day workshop with Susan Cleveland- what a hoot! Susan is such fun!! Enjoyed making this quilt even though piping the macaroni could be a bit tedious when doing a large throw size quilt.
Floral Meditation - This is one of my favorite wallhangings. I made it a couple of years ago and enjoyed the challenge to really add sparkle. The floral area was machine appliqued with gold metallic thread and I also added crystals. The fabric colors are some of my favorites.
Another Day In Paradise - This quilt is a compilation of the many wonders of nature to be found in Costa Rica. I live not far from a famous surfing beach and that was the inspiration for my design. For the beach I hand quilted a bead with every stitch. It was an arduous task but a great affect when completed. I also picked up small shells on the beach. I drilled a small hole, cleaned and varnished the shells and sewed the shells in the sandy areas. I hope you enjoy viewing this.
Find Your Way To The Sea - I made this quilt for my nephew who lives in Las Vegas but loves the ocean, hence the name. The nautical flags on the top and bottom spell out his name. Note the mariner's compass, ship's wheel, lighthouse, and anchors in the quilting in the quilting.
Dogwoods In May - I lived in New Jersey and had a beautiful dogwood tree outside my living room window. In 1996 I wrote a poem about my dogwoods. I now live in Costa Rica and treasure my memory of this time and tree. This quilt was inspired by my memories.
The flowers are individually hand painted. Someflowers are 3 dimensional, most were created and backed with additional batting before being appliqued. A line from the poem is hand embroidered. The entire piece is machine quilted...my first attempt at machine quilting...and oh the lessons learned.
The finished quilt will be a gift to a dear and treasured friend.
Plaid Cats in my Garden - This quilt is a combination of techniques. The blocks are done in Crayon and then hand embroided. The blocks are sashed with piecing and it was machine quilted.
