coffeequilts Dogwoods In May - I lived in New Jersey and had a beautiful dogwood tree outside my living room window. In 1996 I wrote a poem about my dogwoods. I now live in Costa Rica and treasure my memory of this time and tree. This quilt was inspired by my memories. The flowers are individually hand painted. Someflowers are 3 dimensional, most were created and backed with additional batting before being appliqued. A line from the poem is hand embroidered. The entire piece is machine quilted...my first attempt at machine quilting...and oh the lessons learned. The finished quilt will be a gift to a dear and treasured friend.
