Under Water
Name of Maker: Martha Szescila
Under Water - It's my view of the world underwater here in Destin, Florida. I stitched it with the movement of the water in mind. It hangs in our house here on the bay.
Smooth Sailing
Name of Maker: Dorothy Van Dyne
Smooth Sailing - Made for Grandson #1 on the occasion of his becoming a Dad. Quilt became a baby favorite and is now (2007) being used for great-grandchild #2. It has seen a lot of baby messes and still looks great.
Jake's quilt
Name of Maker: Dorothy Van Dyne
Jake's quilt - Made from Corine's flannel scraps (after making Turning Twenty Quilt for her husband). The new puppy needed his own quilt, so I made one for it.
Aaron's ABC Quilt
Name of Maker: Carol Henderson
Aaron's ABC Quilt - I saw the ABC cotton fabric and thought it would make a great small quilt for my then year old grandson. It was a simple quilt. I originally had planned to use lots of different colors not just red and blue but did not like the overall look. This was my first attempt at machine quilting.
Let there be light
Name of Maker: Marié du Toit
Let there be light - I admire the Japanese quilts consisting of many fabrics and apparently heavily quilted. This is my interpetation of Taupe fabrics. I used stars andstar designs from Judy Martin's books in the middle of an Ocean Wave block. I tried to make the centre klighter with darker edges- it did not quite came out the way I saw it in my minds eye.
Tablemat
Name of Maker: Dorothy Van Dyne
Tablemat - Made for table in Motorhome. It fit and looked beautiful. For some unknown reason, this is the one time I didn't prewash---so, you guessed it, the quilt shunk when washed. I've now taken it a part to add another border. Count me as one who will forever pre-wash fabrics.
50 States Quilt
Name of Maker: Sharon Coleman & 4th graders Our Lady of Lourdes
50 States Quilt - Each block is an outline of one of the 50 states. The students drew or traced objects that depicted their state on the outline. They used regular crayons to color the blocks.
Aaron's Family
Name of Maker: Carol Henderson
Aaron's Family - My quiltiing group at church had jointly made a quilt using simple pictures that we traced, colored, and ironed to set the colors. I copied the idea to make this quilt for my grandson. Each family member chose a picture, traced, and colored their picture and signed their square.
Butterfly Blooms

Butterfly Blooms

Granny's gift
Name of Maker: Carol Henderson
Granny's gift - I bought this as a kit from a quilt shop in Rochester, IL in 2004. It is a really cheerful lap quilt.
Scrappy Mickey
Name of Maker: Deanne Stewart
Scrappy Mickey - I began this quilt when my now 3 yr old was a baby and wished for a Disney Embroidery machine to complete it. I've had the machine now for a year and a half and once I took time to figure out how to use it...I couldn't stop. In the meantime, we got news of our first grandson to be due in October. I finished the quilt for the baby and will soon be shipping it to Ohio. It began with an assortment of 5" red squares and I added a few "mickey" fabrics and some light blue log cabin strips. After the quilt sandwich was made, I then embroidered the Mickey Mouse and Friends patches. I did some echo quilting and some free-motion scribbles to finish it off.
Velvet in Bloom
Name of Maker: Debbie Van Fossen
Velvet in Bloom - This very simple pattern was made quite spectacular with the choice of colors, Bobbin Work Decorative Applique, heavy machine quilting by myself and Rhinestones and Beads. I quilted this quilt on my Bernina 200.
Attagirl Carol
Name of Maker: Carol
Attagirl Carol - Paper pieced using lots of kind of ugly fabric. Love the way it turned out and proud of the curved piecing - hence the title
Goodbye Yesterday
Name of Maker: Angelina Kendra
Goodbye Yesterday - Made 2 copies for my dad and his best friend and musical partner, who recently moved to Texas. Center motif is their logo, corners are from their bands. Record "label" shows quilt information. Title comes from the name of a song they wrote and recorded in the 70s.
SpideyWeen
Name of Maker: JES
SpideyWeen - I wanted this quilt to demonstrate the 'fun' in Halloween, ie. candy, candy and more candy. Each of the 4 pieced webs are home to 4 colorful embroidered fringed spiders and their 'treat', glass candy beads. The quilting was done with gold metallic thread and represent 'spider webs' all over the quilt. The background fabric was also used as a pattern for the paint on my motorcycle. (See the image on my profile)
Log Cabin monster
Name of Maker: Marilyn Nash
Log Cabin monster - Just completed last week; monster size. Bedspread size for Queen or regular size for King. Given to youngest son, Randy, and his wife, Lisa. They live in the country and the log cabin suits their lifestyle.
Crossed Canoes
Name of Maker: Peggy Gelbrich
Crossed Canoes - The Crossed Canoes is a traditional pattern dating back to the late 1800s. The angles of the canoes are very easy when paper pieced using freezer paper. The border is a butterfly border designed by friend Judy Madden of Ketchikan, Alaska. This quilt was pictured in the July/August edition of Quilter's Newsletter.
