My Mother's Quilt
Name of Maker: Elizabeth Russ and Carol Russ Peter
My Mother's Quilt - My mother hand pieced the blocks on "old domestic" when she was 15 and never did anything with them. In 1997, while preparing to sell their home and move to a retirement community, she threw a plastic bag at me and said, "Here, you are the only one I know who might do something with these.". I had never seen them before. I machine pieced the top and hand-quilted the quilt and then gave it to her for her 83rd birthday. She proudly showed anyone who would look. Sadly, she died in December, 1005. I now have "custody" until my granddaughter who is name after he can appreciate it.

Name of Maker: Carol Peter

Above Healdsburg
Name of Maker: Diane Perin Hock
Above Healdsburg - I used an aerial photo of my town as the inspiration for this quilt. I experimented with reverse applique to add different layers of fabric. The river fabric was fabric I'd dyed by pouring dye as the fabric hung draped over a rod, which made for a streaky result. I love how it looks like light reflecting off of water.
Candy Galore
Name of Maker: Tammy Salo
Candy Galore - I wanted to make a quilt for my nephew that a young boy would like. Who doesn't like candy? I used bright colors to match the colors in the candy printed fabric. I used jelly beans, gumballs, and lollipops as my candied fabric.
Eliza's Baby Quilt
Name of Maker: Grma Judy
Eliza's Baby Quilt - This quilt pattern is Lucky Stars by Terry Atkinson (Copyright 2002) of Atkinson Designs. My daughter chose Kaye England's collection "Kaye's Cottage". I quilted it heavily with my Bernina machine and used "Libby Lehman's Bottom Line" on top and bottom. The border was pieced of different solids from the fabric line and bound by machine. I did embroider the baby's name, DOB and Baptismal Date on the front as well as "Grma Judy" on the back. The batting was Warm and Natural. The dense quilting with the Bottom Line did not stiffen the quilt as one might expect, so after washing and tumble drying (yes, it is a baby quilt), the soft effect was perfect for a new baby. This is the 3rd quilt I have made from this pattern and love the process each time I make it.
