Wayward Geese - I try to challenge myself with every quilt I make. This quilt was no exception. The piecing was intricate and difficult, with curves going in several directions in each block. I have to admit...I got very friendly with my seam ripper putting this quilt together!

Napa at Sunset - This quilt was a challenge in that I used colors I wasn't comfortable with, mixed fabrics that were challenging (particularly the silk dupion) and piecing techniques I'd never done before.

Sunset At The Lake - This quilt was designed for the 2005 Hoffman challange but the hand quilting took too long for me to complete so it never got a chance to be entered. Now it hangs on my wall where I love to look at it. I spent my evenings sitting on the deck overlooking the lake we live next to as I hand quilted this. The colors are bright and bold just the way I like them. I used templates from Just Curves for getting the nice smooth curves and the curvemaster foot helped with the piecing. I changed the original pattern to move the quilt center on point, then I changed the colorization to enhance the flow of color through the center, and changed the borders to make better use of the challange fabric. A 2" sleeve on the back is used for hanging. It has been hung in one exhibition only.

Shining Stars - Quilt is made of 100 small 5" stars and over two hunderd small strips in the inner border. The bright colors on the black background have a strong visual impact but the flow of the colors across the stars draws your eye across the entire quilt. This was my first attempt at making such small blocks where every point and intersection would be so visible. It took a lot of time and patience but the end results were worth it. It was made as a gift to a woman who coached my daughter for years, as our way of saying Thank You for all the time and effort she put in for the girls.

Rachel's Dresdan Plate - I saw this quilt on a Simply Quilts show several years ago, but I wasn't able to find a pattern to purchase; so I drafted it myself. This quilt won Best of Show that year at our local fair. It is made of burgundy and green colors; my favorite. It now hangs in my office at our county courthouse.

Tropical Flowers - This is my daughter's graduation quilt. There are about 2500 pieces to it. I made pillow shams to match. It won Grand Champion at our local county fair.

Thimbleberries Quilt - This quilt was a joy to make. It combines pieced work and applique which is my favorite technique. The colors are earthy and the quilting is spectacular with fancy feather work and swirls. It won Grand Champion at our county fair.

Baby Nine-Patch - This fun baby quilt was made with scraps of soft colors and waits for a future grandchild to belong to. The pattern is the Nine Patch Party Quilt from Eleanor Burns. This is the first scalloped border I have ever made and the appliqued flowers are stuffed with batting making them dimensional. It is quilted on a domestic machine with a grid pattern.

Kennesey's Baby Quilt - Fabrics and colors were chosen by Jenny. The quilt was given to Jenny's sister, Corey, to celebrate the birth of her first child. Little Kennesey was born in November and I was honored to be present at her birth.

Adam's T-Shirt Quilt - This t-shirt quilt is made up of all Adam's t-shirts that he had acquired throughout his youth. He is very athletic and had t-shirts from all kinds of events and fun runs. I didn't have a pattern, but applied fusable stabilizer to each block and added several machine embroideries. Sleeve patches were appliqued on. It was his high school graduation quilt.

2006 Mississippi Shuffle Fundraiser Raffle Quilt - This quilt was a labor of love -- made to raise money for the American Cancer Society. It was raffled off during the 2006 Mississippi Shuffle (an overnight relay walk held in Red Wing, MN).

Crayola Star - prior to quilting - Bright 'crayola' colors combine to make this a happy quilt. Presented to Arthur and Carrie to be given away in celebration of their one year wedding anniversary.

Lauren's Irish Chain - This quilt is made in deep red, white and blue. It was a high school graduation quilt for my daughter, Lauren. I made matching pillowshams out of a quilt as you go method. It won a reserve championship at our county fair.

Amos' Memorial Quilt - My first quilt was made and given away to honor the one year anniversary of the death of Dakota spiritual leader Amos Owen. His family donated the quilt to the Science Museum of MN where it now hangs, behind glass, in an exhibit honoring Amos and his late wife Ione.

Two Hearts of Gold (side 1) - I made this quilt to commemorate my cousins' 50th wedding anniversary. The fabrics in the windows represent the people who have come in and out of their lives. And it's reversible!
