Tiles That Bind
Name of Maker: Karen Snedeker
Tiles That Bind - This memory quilt was made for friends who are moving out of the country. The title has double meaning. Their business was tiling, so the basic design is a mosaic, and we spent many fun hours together enjoying "tile" games like Mah Jongg, RummiKub, and Mexican Train. The plaid stripes are satin from one of her gowns and were the basis of the color scheme. All of the other fabrics are unique reminders of their 12 years in Florida.

Radiance - Inspired By Libby
Name of Maker: Carol Moellers
Radiance - Inspired By Libby - I was asked if I would like to make a quilt for a special medical fund raising event for Libby Lehman. The quilt had to be something which inspired us from Libby's teachings. All the quilts for this fund raiser will be part of a special exhibit, "Inspired By Libby" at Houston IQF and at AQS Paducah shows. The quilts will be auctioned off and all the funds raised will go to Libby's medical fund. The design and the name for my quilt were derived from what Libby Lehman means to me. "Radiance" is a measure of the quantity of radiation that passes through or is emitted from a surface. Through Libby's teachings, she emits power and energy to others. She passes this energy on to her students, to create beautiful works of art. Libby's "radiance" has touched so many. Radiance is measured by "joules". The stronger the radiance, the more joules of energy and power are emitted. Libby, you are a very strong and powerful source of radiance. My quilt is a tribute to you, Libby Lehman, a powerhouse of creativity, emitting mega volts of energy to the quilting industry.
Black, White and Read All Over
Name of Maker: Monica33
Black, White and Read All Over - This quilt began as a quest to make a man's quilt without all the cliches of moose and fishes. Inspired by the recipient's interest in martial arts, all the fabrics are printed with some kind of kanji, either real or imaginary. Theoretically you could "read" the quilt, hence the title!
