Templar

Templar - I had a number of beautiful lime green fabrics that I longed to use, along with a length of batik that I decided not to use for a Turkish coat I made.... That was the basis for the color scheme. I made one block at a time in the paper piecing method. I began with a design that I had seen by Carol Doak, modified and added lines until I was satisfied.

Puzzles and Games
Name of Maker: Joyce (MAMA2TNT)
Puzzles and Games - This little quilt is the Spring Challenge 2012 at our quilt guild. The fabric given to us was a small square of male and female cardinals, with blue sky and pine branches. I put one bird in the corner and cut the remainder of the fabric, and some coordinating additional fabric, into little squares to resemble a slide the tile picture puzzle. I then added a wide border, twisted the block and added the gingham border to resemble a checked tablecloth. I embroidered the words "Cocoa and Cookies", "Puzzles and Games", "At the kitchen table", "On a wintry afternoon."

Bugs for E.V.
Name of Maker: Vonna Johnson
Bugs for E.V. - I made this quilt for my four year old grandaughter who loves the outdoors and all its creatures large and small. I was so proud that it squared up perfectly. Not usually the case. I had it loaded on my longarm ready to quilt. Then I learned that my new longarm was coming the next day so I decided to unload and wait to quilt on my new system. I began unpinning and then decided to cut away the excess batting at the bottom. OMGosh, I didn't just do that. OMGosh, I DID just do that. At this point, I'm feeling feint, nauseous, my heart is pounding. OK, sit down, breathe, keep breathing.... Stay tuned.
Rainbow of a Celtic Cross

Monkey Business - I adapted the published pattern to make a cuddle quilt for my granddaughter rather than a twin size quilt. In the process, I also changed the border.
