Hanami Breezes
Name of Maker: Denise Buchwalter-Losczyk
Hanami Breezes - My quilt was accepted into the 2011 Hoffman Challenge Traveling exhibit. This is the first time I have done extensive machine quilting on a show entry, so I am pleased that I got into the show. I used my placemat design, which I designed and entered for the Quilt Show Placemat Challenge, and enlarged it, added hand drawn appliques, hand embroidery and trapunto on the flowers. (Thanks for the trapunto lessons on the Quilt Show!)
The Wedding Quilt
Name of Maker: slozano
The Wedding Quilt - I made this Wedding Quilt on commission for a friend. I used bridal brocade fabric for the white and several sage green fabrics and a cute black and white print with square rings hooked together. I was really pleased with the finished quilt, even though I did minimal quilting (in the ditch and "Xs" across the white squares), and my friend was very impressed with it! I almost didn't want to let her have it!!
Baby Crockett
Name of Maker: slozano
Baby Crockett - I made this quilt for my friend's 2nd baby boy. For the first baby I did an Elvis themed quilt (my friend loves Elvis), so for her 2nd baby boy, I chose to do a motorcross themed quilt (dad is into motorcross). I found this great motorcross panel, added the checkerboard border and a larger boarder with more motorcross riders. I quilted in the ditch around the borders and also around the riders in the panel. My friend loved the quilt and hopefully her baby boy will be able to use it for many years to come!
Texanese
Name of Maker: slozano
Texanese - A friend of mine commissioned me to make this wallhanging for her brother's new mother-in-law who lives in Japan. She wanted a Texas theme in wallhanging size, since the homes in Japan are quite small. I designed this wallhanging to incorporate Texas theme items using Texas theme fabric and some Asian fabrics. The blue in the corners of the blocks and small border is bluebonnet fabric and the sashing between the blocks is chile pepper fabric. I was pretty happy with the way it turned out and my friend's MIL was thrilled to receive it!
Earth Snowballs
Name of Maker: slozano
Earth Snowballs - My friend commissioned me to make an anniversary quilt for her parents 50th wedding anniversary and wanted earth tones. I love making snowball blocks and had some great Thimbleberries fabric in my stash, so decided to combine them making earth tone snowball blocks! The light fabric in the corners is actually a light colored batik that I found at my favorite local quilt shop. My friend was delighted with the quilt! I hand appliqued 2 butterflies on it...one for her Mom and one for her Dad.

Winter's Evening Star
Name of Maker: Maureen Herran
Winter's Evening Star - Quilt designer, Emma Tyrrell shared this classic quilt block with Ladies Home Journal in April 1933. It was reprinted in Century of Quilts magazine in approximately 2004 or 2005. The quilting was designed by Maureen Herran and was accomplished by free-hand quilting on a longarm machine. None of it was done by computer.
Autumn Mums
Name of Maker: Lori M
Autumn Mums - Bought kit after taking class with Frieda Anderson. Really fun way to do a wall quilt. Everything is fused including the binding! Her fabrics from the kit were absolutely beautiful. The colors are actually much more vibrant than the photo indicates.
Avery's Quilt
Name of Maker: Lori M
Avery's Quilt - knew the baby's colors would be brown and pink - found the PERFECT brown patterned Kaffe Fassett print so used to pick the other colors. The angles were "weird" so I had to use templates for the big angled pieces. Went together pretty accurately except one of the angled piece's tips is "off" but it's not really noticeable after the quilting was complete. This is probably one of the first truly flat quilts I've done, with no buckling or waviness on the edges. The "A" is paper pieced.
Flamingoes!
Name of Maker: Kathleen
Flamingoes! - made for me ! from variety of flamingo fabrics
Stars from the 30's
Name of Maker: LeeMarie4Q
Stars from the 30's - I used my stash of 30's prints and love the results. I finally got the courage to put it on the long arm and quilt it. It's the most ambitious quilt I ever did.
