Bright Stars - I took the feathered star from the 2009 TQS BOM and surrounded it with 6" blocks that I made for a BOM that my local quilting circle did based on Wildflower Sampler by Milligan & Smith. I added a few extra 6" star blocks to make enough, and I designed the borders.
Freckled Star - I used the paper piecing patterns from M'Liss Rae Hawley's Mariner's Medallion Quilts, but designed my own setting. I made this quilt for my guild challenge, which was to use the Jane Sassaman red/yellow and purple/green gradated dot fabrics and beads.
Deep Sea Mardi Gras - I designed and machine embroidered this quilt for my guild challenge, which was to use the Jane Sassaman red/yellow and purple/green gradated dot fabrics and beads. I appliqued/embroidered all the fish directly onto the unpieced background, using a number of Jane Sassaman fabrics that coordinated with the challenge fabrics. Then I sewed the border/binding to the back of the quilt and then machine appliqued to the front. Then I dressed up the fish for a party by applying over 1000 hot fix crystals and beads.
Halloween Tummy Time - Made for girlfriends new grandson, Riley. The back is Charlie Brown Trick or Treat fabric, so cute and timeless. Made this on my new Pfaff expression 2.0 won a couple weekends ago at a quilt shop drawing.
Pearl of the Dragon - I saw a photo of a dragon in a book years ago and saved it. I finally decided to enlarge it to incorporate it into a king size quilt I was making for my bed. The quilt also uses the "Strips and Curves" technique developed by Louisa Smith. The designs around the perimeter are Japanese family crests I adapted for applique.
Beloved Spook - Creating a black dog presented some challenges in bringing depth and contrast to the image. The design was based on the dog's owner's favorite photo.
Attic Window Horses - Made for my Great Niece Shaylin's tenth birthday. I stippled horses, lined window frames, quilted carrots, horseshoes, fencing, her full name, quilt name in the sashing and borders.
Starlit Paths - Gift for my Aunt Nada. This queen size quilt was from a Hancock Retreat in Ashland NE. Main Star Green and secondary Burgandy. Piano Key border. Connie is in White and Pink on right, I'm left.
Space Guys - This Quilt was pieced and machine appliqued by my good friend Doreen she gifted it to my 4 year old son and I used a nice flannel back and Long Arm Quilted it on my New Gammill Lime Green Machine it was my fist try at a full size quilt on the long arm and I used a different stipple /designs for each block ! it turned out great!
Flower Wall Quilt - This wall hanging was done for my local quilt shop Rumpled Quilt Skins for a sample of the new fabrics to be promoted in the fall along with Karens pattern I was able to freehand the feathers and stipple around the applique on my domestic machine I really enjoyed the process
Jenna - The quilt is named for it's owner, Jenna, and was her high school graduation gift. I used Moda jelly rolls to make this simple strippy block. It was free motion quilted using a domestic machine.
Bridge Over Troubled Waddles - I love McKenna Ryan's patterns and have several of them. This one jumped out at me because of the cute name. I couldn't resist making this as a wallhanging.
Woodland Flower - Began in Jan. 2010 in a Nancy Chong applique class. Quilted with sulkey and silk threads. Wool batting, flower pot trapunto with 2 layers of 80/20 Hobbs batting. Finished 9-2010.
Bargello with a Chinese Twist - Made for a friend of my mine who adopted two Chinese girls. This is for her youngest daughter. I used fabric with Chinese characters.
