Little Things
Name of Maker: Bernice Ulm
Little Things - Butterflies on Patch Work Wall hanging was constructed for our quilt guild hot august night challenge, which was "favorit little things". I love butterflies so of course that was my favorit little thing. I did a patach work of 3 inch squares and appliqued the butterflies on. I used hot crystals as flowers and embroided the stems from the main branchs to the hot crystals. The lady bugs are buttons and the snail is appliquet with embroided accents. This was my first try at machine quilting. The wall hanging did win the challenge.

As the Crow Flies
Name of Maker: iwnaqlt
As the Crow Flies - "As the Crow Flies", incorporates traditional blocks and original crow designs. I used applique and paper piecing techniques. I am trying to learn as much as possible. I like using symbolism in my designs. This one has the crows and geese flying in all directions and has the marine's compass blocks to point the way. I also used four colors representing the four seasons. I had a wonderful time creating this quilt and it shows that I have a lot to learn!
