Untitled
Name of Maker: Debby Siccardi
Untitled - This quilt did not get a name or quilt label when it was given to a dear friend, Deborah Schrepel, for her birthday when she was terminally ill, before she passed away in dec. 2007. It was flannel backed with thick loft batting to keep her warm while she battled cancer. It was on her bed during her hospice care as well as her death.
Sweet Sixteen
Name of Maker: Debby Siccardi
Sweet Sixteen - This quilt was taught "demo" style at Quilter's Attic, by the designer & teacher Anita De Rubeis. Each block presented a new technique and/or machine foot. We were given a one hour demo per month for each block over a period of 9 months & a demo the final month of how to finish it. They hesitated when I wanted to take this class, since I was still very new to quilting. Also, my machine was not capable of producing some of the decorative stitches and I had to figure out replacements. I'm glad they agreed to let me take it, because I learned so much.
3-D Mariner's Compass
Name of Maker: Debby Siccardi
3-D Mariner's Compass - This quilt was completed using a folding fabric technique. The block was taught at a class at Quilter's Attic. The first two blocks were mostly completed in class during the Spring of 2007. the 3rd block and the rest of quilt was completed about a year later.
Showers of Happiness
Name of Maker: Debby Siccardi
Showers of Happiness - When I first joined my quild, they had just started mentoring sessions for this quilt which was taught "demo" style by Cheryl Winslow. The classes were held once a month for an hour or so after our meeting. I learned a lot, the most important being Cheryl's method to match up seams. The prairie points were my idea to add to the long sides of the quilt. The completed quilt was given as a wedding shower gift to my nephew's future bride
Morning Has Broken
Name of Maker: Debby Siccardi
Morning Has Broken - This was my most challenging quilt to date. It is a "quilt as you go" put together using folding techniques with decorative stitches, also 5 machine embroidered designs in each block and extensive straight line quilting. I named it such because I worked through the night until morning the day I finished it
Memories Sewn
Name of Maker: Debby Siccardi
Memories Sewn - This quilt was a birthday gift for my mother-in-law. The top was completed in time for her birthday in April, but quilting wasn't completed until June. Pictures vary from old black & whites of her past as well as older & current pictures of her 3 boys, their wives and 5 grandchildren.
Twilight Wolves
Name of Maker: Cheriffic
Twilight Wolves - The wolves were printed on fabric. I just cut them into even squares and sashed them to add some interest I put stars for the corner stones. The border around the wolves is not symetrical so it gives it a slightly crooked look. I made this wall hanging for my husband he loves wolves. I used a silver metalic thread to quilt the stars and the moon.
Foley Wall Hanging
Name of Maker: Cheriffic
Foley Wall Hanging - I just made this to play with some embroidery designs that came with my new machine at the time.
orangutan squaredance
Name of Maker: mommaduck
orangutan squaredance - Saw a quilt on the net with four cats with entwined tails and thought that a monkey wrench should have monkeys and started sketching for a competition. I should extend the pattern to a full size bed for the little kids.
Checks and Plaids
Name of Maker: Robbie and Mickey
Checks and Plaids - I won these blocks from my guild's BOM in 2000. My sister and I recently completed the quilt while she was visiting, and it went home with her as a birthday present for her husband. We loved the "old-timey" look of the quilt. It reminded us of quilts that our Granny made and called utility quilts.

Garden of Grace
baby riley quilt
Name of Maker: Nanette Herbst
baby riley quilt - Made for my new great niece. I used Glorianne Cubbage's Twice Quilted technique on this. I quilted cabbage roses with a varigated pink thread and leaves with a varigated green thread.
North Dakota Buffalo
Name of Maker: Cyndi Phillip
North Dakota Buffalo - “North Dakota Buffalo” was inspired by a trip I took to North Dakota for the American Association of School Librarians. During the North Dakota Library Conference they had a reception at a buffalo museum in Jamestown. There on the grounds they had a white buffalo, among several brown ones. Princess had also given birth to a white calf, which is rare. Then when I got the post card from the museum imagine my surprise when I read that the mother buffalo had be purchased from a buffalo farm in northern Michigan. On my way to the airport my guide stopped at a quilt shop where I bought the buffalo fabric. The greens and golds that I selected to complete the blocks were selected to remind me of the beautiful colors of spring that were in full force during my visit to North Dakota. The pattern is one that my sister designed to use four patches and half-square triangles in a dark/light combination.
FabricChoices
Name of Maker: Bonnie Barber
FabricChoices - I completed the piecing of this quilt during and after a quilt retreat at Cambria, CA led by podcaster and quilt teacher, Annie Smith. It still needs quilting - soon to be done, of course!? The sashing and borders are completed, I just don't have a current photo.
Flying Free
Name of Maker: Bonnie Barber
Flying Free - When I finish the binding on this quilt it will most likely be one of my personal favorites. I really enjoyed putting it together but was stumped when it came to the quilting. I did SID and there it sits while I take months to ponder what else I should do. I think I will let it go and call it done.
stone soup challenge
Name of Maker: pjmama
stone soup challenge - This was a stone soup challenge from my local guild. I was given the two pieced squares, the large button, the green fabric on the right, and the fabric used int he pinwheels. It took awhile to decide what to do. The background fabric is pieced. The pinwheels are 3D. The detail on the houses,( Roofs, trim, etc..) are raw edged fused applique. I freehand drew the birdhouses. The flowers and vine is also raw edged. The bird is not my pattern, I found it in an old magazine, it is needle turn applique. There is thread painting on the flowers. The lizard is an old, plastic toy from my children. The dragonfly was a 3D thread applique I made. It was a lot of fun.
View from the Pheonix
Name of Maker: Pjmama
View from the Pheonix - This was made after a Father's Day weekend at Orange Beach. Dolphins were everywhere. The background is pieced. The sun is raw edge fused. I wanted it fuzzy like the sun on a hot day. The dolphins are needle turn applique. Beads were added for extra sparkle
unnamed at present
Name of Maker: Jennifer Goldstein
unnamed at present - This is a strip quilt with an offset center applique. The design was my own, an attempt to use up some scraps.
Affairs of the Heart
Name of Maker: Lucy Gamber
Affairs of the Heart - I first found this book on a website while surfing on the web. To my amazement, the author lived in my home town. So I called her up and went to her house to pick up two copies, one for myself and one for a friend. Around two months or so after I had purchased the book, this was offered as a block of the month at my local quilt shop. Of course, I jumped on board! I didn't do it with needleturn applique like Aie Rossman (the designer) did because I detest hand sewing. I did very little quilting on it because I didn't want to take away from the spectacular design.
