Sam's strip - Our mini group decided to try a round robin using strips. we each had a theme and provided our own fabric. Sam's theme was Friends, animals, and tea. Since I was doing the last strip, I realized no one had quilting things, so I added a shopping bag and quilted cat.
Becky's strip - Becky was in our mini group strip quilt round robin, Her theme was The Great Outdoors.

Stars of love - This is my strip quilt from the round robin project. My theme was stars and I gave them turquoise and purple and white material. This quilt is for my Healing table for when I treat clients with Reiki, a hands on energy healing.
Emily's Navy - My son graduated in 2008 from the US Naval Academy. Besides his roommates, some of his closest friends were four female Midshipmen. Three we called "the triplets", because they hung out together all the time. Emily was in a different company but always around. Rachel's Mom designed these quilts with specific events documented for each female Mid. She found someone in Ohio to make them for her. They were awesome!
Caroline Sharkey meets Ricky Tims underwater! - I attended a workshop with Caroline Sharkey of NSW Australia for her "Painting with Fabrics & Threads" technique and used a Ricky Tims Convergence for the background. I'd taken a photograph of a turtle at an aquarium so used my drawing from that as the pattern.
Snippets of fabrics & threads were placed onto the background and covered with water soluble fabric and machine stitched to keep the threads in place, then it was rinsed to get rid of the washaway. The turtle was made with the same technique and appliqued into place.
I used a sparkle fabric for the border with two rows of shaggy wool to define the border.
Back Porch Drama - I wanted to use some beautiful black and white batik strips to make a dramatic quilt, so I strip pieced them at random, added some zebra print fabric to the border for extra flair.
I really wanted something bright and colorful for the final border and when I found the Andover Poppies print fabric online I knew that was the fabric I had to use. For the backing I used a tone on tone black print and the binding is a black and white floral print fabric.
I photographed it in my favorite back porch chair!
Shifting Sands - Using the technique in Ms. Nickols book, I added a contrasting inner border and an outer border from a different design area of the same fabric.
The Music will Never Die - This is the front of the quilt. Ricky, I just want to Thank You with all my heart for giving me permission to make this quilt. Words can not describe how much delight you have given Dave and Christine when they saw this. I think this has closed a very difficult time during their lives and opened a new chapter to better times ahead. -- The back of the quilt is just as beautiful as the front.
Military Tribute - Thanks to Alex Anderson's quilt USA, my wheels started turning. I took her flag Idea, and changed the top to create a Military Tribute. My husband and I have had members of our family in all branches of the Military. So this was my way of saying Thank you for all who has served. So again Thanks Alex for the wonderful idea.
Laughter - I needed something bright, cheerful and different to hang in my office. The wall behind my desk is black and in real need of something! I saw Ricky make a quick convergence quilt on TQS then picked out a couple of batiks from my stash, found a border fabric and got busy. It was fun and easy as well as quick! I am learning to machine quilt so used that for the center but had to add a bit of hand quilting too. The quilt label has the verse from Proverbs 17: 22a: "A cheerful heart is good medicine..." I named the quilt "Laughter" and it does cheer up my office. My plans are to make more of these quilts and to experiment more:
Pa'imalau - I was inspired by the gracefulness of Portugese-Man-of-War jellyfish, and had a lot of fun putting this quilt together. This is an "in process" photo of it.
