Galveston Sunset - This quilt was commissioned as a gift, and represents the view from the owner's home which was destroyed in Hurricane Ike. I needle-punched various fabrics and fibers to a piece of hand-dyed fabric over batting, and then machine-quilted. The dog and dock were hand-painted and machine-appliqued.

Mountain Sunset

Mountain Sunset - This art quilt was made by machine-needle-punching various fabrics to a hand-dyed background of cotton fabric and batting. The dark green hills are a thick velour, and the mist and clouds are combinations of sheer fabrics, silks, and roving. The trees in the foreground are rough-cut with no pattern and needle-punched down. Angelina fibers add some sparkle. Machine-quilted on DSM. This sunset view is one of our favorite places in the North Carolina mountains.

Carolina Woodland Spring - Cutaway trapunto, shadow trapunto, long-arm machine quilting, and painting of the quilted motifs with Tsukineko inks and fabric markers. The patchwork squares include hand-dyed and hand-painted cottons, commercial cottons, and Dupioni silk. Swarovski crystals and hand-sewn beads are scattered across the quilt. Original design.
