Clearly Now
Name of Maker: Mickey Depre
Clearly Now - One of my favorite artists is Peter Max... Those puffy clouds and shooting suns just drew me in as a child...so happy. This is my "nod" to Peter.
Sunset Wheat
Name of Maker: Mickey Depre
Sunset Wheat - I love Iowa...and thankfully Iowa seems to like me too with the amount of teaching I do there. But Iowa is also the home of APQS...the maker of my beloved "George" sewing machine (a treasure to a small studio!) APQS asked if I would make them a quilt for display in their booth and I gladly went to work. I was also deep into watching the HBO miniseries "John Adams" at the time...there is a scene where he is walking thru his wheat fields and I immediately thought of Iowa (I know J.A. was in Mass....but its my story) and went to work.
glory
Name of Maker: confusedwow
glory - I used red white and blue for this quilt
Geese in the Garden
Name of Maker: Shawn Priggel
Geese in the Garden - Made for my partner's grandmother who, after a health scare, moved in with her daughter from the house where she had spent most of her life. Though it was her choice, I'm sure it had to be difficult so I wanted to make her a sort of "room warming" gift. It turned into a Christmas gift, though, as I didn't get it finished until recently! The pattern was made to go with a Maywood border print which is cut apart and used for both the outer border and sashing between the strips of geese.

Name of Maker: Merrie Handfinger
Heart of the Park - Based on an original central design by Leni Abel and 5 bridges in Central Park, NYC.

Surrounded By My Family - The French Provencial color scheme and various yellow setting squares of Alex' quilt inspired the layout of this quilt for my friend Ardith. The pictures are her family as Kaleidoscopes.

50 FQs Quilt
Name of Maker: Yvonne
50 FQs Quilt - Every Christmas (for the last 3 years), my husband has given me a box stuff with 50 fat quarters, he picked out himself, at my local quilt shop. The first year I frittered them away; one here...one there..but for the bunch I got for Christmas 2007, I decided to put them all in one quilt. This is the result. Now I'm looking for a pattern to use the 2008 fqs on!
Liz's New Zealand Adventure
Name of Maker: Yvonne
Liz's New Zealand Adventure - When daughter Liz came back from a trip to New Zealand, she brought me some fabric! Naturally I had to make her a quilt to document some of her adventures. There is a block with a horse, to commemorate riding on a beach in NZ. Another block shows her in an innertube, "black water" rafting through a cave, with glow worms shining on the ceiling. I added Hokey Pokey ice cream, NZ flora and fauna...and even a pair of legs with flies buzzing around so she wouldn't forget those annoying sand flies! Patterns were from various sources and when I couldn't find a pattern for what I wanted, I made one up. It was a really fun quilt to make and Liz loves it.
Peek-A-Boo
Name of Maker: Yvone
Peek-A-Boo - In October, I was in Utah waiting for the birth of my first grandchild. While I waited, I did the redwork blocks for this quilt. After I got home, I finished the rest of it, in the pinks and browns of Aurora's nursery. She received the quilt when we went to visit, for her first Thanksgiving!
Grandpa's Quilt for Aurora
Name of Maker: Yvonne
Grandpa's Quilt for Aurora - This pattern is in Mary Hickey's book, "Sweet and Simple Baby Quilts." I make a lot of baby quilts for friends and family but when we found out we were going to be grandparents for the first time--I was really excited! I like the patterns in Mary's book. Our new granddaughter ended up with 7 quilts by the time she was born. One of the most special is this one, quilted by her Grandpa! I let him pick one of the quilt tops I'd made, and he quilted it. He'd been wanting to play with my HQ Sixteen, so this gave him a good excuse.
White Wedding Quilt
Name of Maker: Jeanne Turner McBrayer
White Wedding Quilt - White and off-white cotton and satin squares form the backdrop for curving quilted feather designs, based on Floribunda by Nichole Webb. My daughter wanted all whites so she could use this wedding quilt in any decor. Six months after I finished the quilt, their apartment building burned down, and I thought I would have to start all over due to smoke and water damage. However, the quilt was cleaned and now has quite a story to tell.
Beary Christmas
Name of Maker: Diane Mettler
Beary Christmas - Teddy Bear dressed for snow.
Mom's Mix
Name of Maker: Daisy Mier Fredericks
Mom's Mix - I made this quilt for my mom, because she loves scrappy quilts. I used a bit of nearly every fabric I had at the time. The only fabric I bought specifically for this was the Moda Marble black for the border and binding. This isn't an award winning quilt, as it was one of my first, but it was made to be used and loved.
Sunflowers
Name of Maker: Catpath
Sunflowers - Fusible applique, sunflowers in brass pot with postcard and architectural background. Designed as a crayon challenge. Netting used to stabilize petals and postcard applique.
Mystery of the Substitute Teacher
Name of Maker: Daisy Mier Fredericks
Mystery of the Substitute Teacher - This was SUCH a fun quilt to make! It wan an event night at my LQS and when I found out what the name of the pattern was I decided to give it to my daughter's kindergarten teacher as a gift. It turned out that she loved pink and green. I had subbed for her for a week while her husband was in the hospital and gained an even greater respect for the job that teachers do :)
