TOPIC: Vimeo shows

Re: Vimeo shows 11 Jun 2014 12:49 #118727

Just watched 1411 in HD, all good. Now I've gone on to 1412 and the sound is there--go figure!

I tried to watch show 1412 and have no sound at all, though the video was fine. I read here about trying HD so went back to show 1411 which had HD available. Without HD, no sound. With HD, it's fine. So, I'll watch for HD to be available for Cynthia England's show and watch then. I am using a desktop computer, Windows 8, and IE.

I, also, am behind my times... but I did start to watch the show (1411) and clicked OFF the HD (Thank you very much!!) All seemed well. I/we REALLY appreciate the attention to our concerns - this is a great place!!

I have watched the show on Google Chrome on my labtop and a bit on my Nexus 7 also Google Chrome there. Both played well and went full screen without problems. It's a much better quality (I checked HD versus non HD) Thank you so much for your hard work

OK--just finished watching show 1411 on a MacBook Air. I watched with HD and it was wonderful! And-- Carolyn Konig --what a delight! I would really have liked seeing more about the drafting(I always find the hard way to do it). Oh, back on task--I had no problems watching in the largest size and the color and definition were wonderful(I did check out the difference between the HD and the non-HD). The volume was better than the last show I watched(which was about three shows ago). Can you tell I am a little behind? Once again, thank you TQS for this amazing experience. I will get to those other shows soon.

I second JoJo's comment--works really well now. Watched the show both on my laptop and Kindle with great results. Worked very well with full screen.

Oh thank you so much. The ads were always so loud that it literally would startle me every time...the Bernina ad always screamed at me! :( I love Bernina but I hated those ads. Now the sound level is consistent with no loud bursts. The HD feature is really nice as well. If I made the screen to fit my screen in the past, it was really blurry. Now it is very clear and clean. NICE! :)

What a difference HD makes! I can now get my ironing done :D The quality is up to what it was with the previous player.
I tested the show in both Firefox and Internet Explorer. In Firefox I had to buffer the whole show before playing to avoid misaligned video and audio. In IE there is no such problem. I do not run Chrome on my computers so have not tested that and I have not time this morning to install but if needed I can do so later.
Thank you very much for switching this show and here is to a bright, pixel clear future with Vimeo 8)
Sorry to create more work for you - lots of shows to re-upload for you having already switched them to Vimeo from the old player but it is certainly well worth it. THANK YOU!

Okay, show 1411 is up in HD. Please try the HD version and expand it to full screen and let me know how it looks and if it streams cleanly. For those of you with slower internet or satellite, please just click the HD symbol to turn off the HD and let me know if it runs smoothly in Standard mode. The HD version looked great on my desktop and laptop. The iPad didn't show the HD symbol, but the picture was very good. The Kindle HDX showed the HD symbol and the picture was great. I am on really good internet and didn't have any streaming problems.

Let us know your results.

We are going to reload all of the 1400 series in HD. I saw our next show 1412 in HD and it is fabulous (Alex is demanding a real makeup person now!). I wrote to the support people at Vimeo and they said that if you click on the "HD" symbol (icon) it will turn the HD off and go back to the Standard version. I have asked our editor to upload the current show 1411 in HD so we can test it. I hope we can do this tonight (he is on a job for Oprah) and I can have you guys test it out. We want to know how HD affects the streaming consistency. Also, we want to prove that the turning off of the HD works for our more rural viewers. Fingers crossed.

On my computer it puts it into a screen by itself, but you still need to click on the icons below that show 2 screens to make it full screen. The medium size seems very clear but the full screen doesn't seem to measure up.<<<<<<<

Interesting observations regarding full screen. Mine goes full screen straight away. Can this be depending on the size of the screen? Mine is a 17" laptop screen, 1440x900 pixels. Once in full screen I can go to medium which is then smaller than if I choose the original on the page of the show (does this make sense)

Thank you very much for looking into this for us.

Regarding the sound, I seem to notice it is the guests whose volume is lower than Ricky & Alex. It's possible the hosts know to speak louder from experience & the guests speak normally, making them lower. I would think the mics would be the same.

I only watch from my laptop, don't have a phone or tablet, so I can't give an opinion on those. But I did notice an improvement in the sync-ing of the audio to the video when I bought my laptop vs my 7 year old desktop.

Keep up the good work! It's appreciated.

When changing settings for the shows, please allow an option to watch in NON-HD (if that is an understandable term). We are mountain folk and only have access to satellite service. Although I love to watch shows in HD, we can quickly run into "bandwidth restrictions", and the techies tell me that watching too many things in HD too often(!) can eat it up our bandwidth in no time. Moderation in all things, I guess!

Thanks!
