It was a fun process. When I can post a blog, I'll include a slideshow of this quilt's journey. I just was able to take a full photo of it last night.

What a beautiful quilt, Terry! It is so cohesive that it really doesn't look like it was made from scraps. I love everything about it!

The trashing of wedding dresses that I've seen around here are done months after the wedding. The one I'm most recently
aware of was fifteen months later. The pictures of the bride in the water turned out to be especially elegant. I would
suspect that the dresses could never be cleaned well enough for them to be re-used as wedding dresses and I agree that it
seems very wasteful.

What a tragic and unnecessary loss of a beautiful 30-year-old woman's life! I agree with the article that this story probably won't stop the wedding dress trashing craze, but I certainly know of a much better way to show independence and creativity! How sad! Think I'll go work on my pineapple quilt!

Oh how dreadful! Well obviously this couple in France had not heard that particular bit of news. How grim and sad.

It would appear that at least one of these marriages didn't last very long at all.

For my first marriage I wore a beautiful 12-yard bridal gown with a gorgeous lace bodice and long sleeves. When the marriage ended after 5 years, I donated that gown to our local church for their Christmas sale. I hope it brought happiness to someone who might not have had the opportunity to buy such a dress. I've never regretted that decision. Trashing a wedding dress today might be the fashion trend of the moment for young brides, but I wonder if it's any indication of how well the marriage will last. Time will tell.
