I asked about Margo at the Colorado Ricky Tims Seminar. Both John and Ricky
said she was doing well.

So..it would be a fixed member group....? like the strip exchange or the HST exchange? If we have a good
number...well..you could be making a lota blks  !! I favor more choice like the Mug Rugs....I can stop at
5 or 9 or 30 if I want 'em...I guess the individual could make the same block over and over....I get bored too easy
for that !! I s'pose the individual could ask for a certain blk...stars, houses, hearts, churn dashes....
We did that in Guild 3 or 4 yrs ago.....turned out OK but my stars are still in the UFO pile !!!

We don't want to over do it ...if we KIS maybe Terrie could direct traffic :D :D :D :D :D don't want to work her hard !

I was thinking that, for example, I would decide to make Ohio Stars in the assigned size. I would make 10-12 or however many people are in the swap and send mine out, one to each person. Then everyone else would make their 10-12 of the same block and send them out. We would need people to sign up and guarantee under penalty of the quilt police that they would make and send their blocks to the specific group members.

I like Marilyn's thoughts on reds/creams/whites. Remember, Mary Ellen Hopkins always said "Every red goes with every other red."

Just thought I'd throw this out. I'm open for any ideas.

That's so, Rosemary....I've been in many block exchanges and have a few that don't play well enough together
to use....On the other hand, that's what rulers are for and I know we ALL can get them done correctly.

Wendy...I've been wondering about Margo, too. :?:

Terrie,

I love the idea of a red & white quilt. I've never done an exchange so I don't know what is feasible but I think maybe blocks all the same finished size would make it easier to put a quilt together when you have all the blocks. Keep me in mind if you get this started.

There can be a lot of variation between one person's 6" and anothers  Jus' sayin'. That said everyone in the Wot Rott exchange was very good about sizes.

So if we followed the similar way of Mug Rugs....2 people would agree to exchange a specific number of blks(1,2,etc)
in a prescribed size (4in., 6in.) in the pattern the makers choice . The number of blocks and the size really need to be the same for all....and red fabric really must be pre-washed and color-fast. Anything else that needs to be added??
Could be fun... :D I personally think 2, 6 inch blocks would be do-able and would mail anywhere for reasonable postage !!
Terrie... what do you think ? After thought....all whites are not created equal ...mixed whites and creams?? or what ? :?:
There would also be a mix of reds, so a mix of whites shouldn't be a problem.

Does this swap warrant it's own thread yet?

Terrie,

I like the red and white idea also. Maybe the blocks would all be the same size and each of us would pick a particular block and make them to send to each other. I guess that means everyone would have the same quilt, however, we would each be able to set the blocks in our own way. It would be quite a commitment, so people joining would have to be sure to do their share. Just a thought....

Rita, you are very, very welcome. I'm not working on it now either, which is not to say that it won't become a project later!!
