BJ really like your Storm at Sea coloration too. I'm just finishing a Winding Ways top with lots of points to match up. I picked up a hint recently from Alex re matching points placing a pin thru the point of the apposing block, then pinning the blocks together on either side of the pin. As you sew along pull the pin sticking thru the points.

Susan like your paper pieced Great Purple Heron a lot!

Barb :)
Thanks Barb. :D

Susan, love your GBH! Glad to know it's from EQ7, since that means I have access to it. Of course that means I would actually have to KNOW how to use my EQ program. Learning EQ is just another thing on my need-to-get-around-to-it list...
Connie, EQ is a piece of cake. Really it is...much more intuitive than some programs and oh such a handy resource. You can learn much of it in just an hour or two's time. :)

I think I like your heron more because he is wonky - and purple - Susan. That Carol Doak class here on TQS won't be around for much longer. Time to take a refresher course I think, for me that is. :D

I should have looked at the Newsletter before I recommended the Craftsy class. It looks like she covers all the topics, but I haven't watched it yet.

Susan, it's a great block. I'd be very happy with it if I could have made it. :)

I should call it a great purple heron, for my friend's daughter's going away to college quilt. Yep, it's wonky, but the outside is square. Squaring up blocks is NoT my forte, nor is trying to figure out how to get a border a specific size to complete the over all block. Drove me more insane than I already am  but it worked out in the end.

The Heron block is in EQ7.

Oh my, BJ, I love your Storm at Sea coloration. Agreeing with Connie, the undulation is very cool. Carol Doak also has a Craftsy class that shows many tips that she uses for perfect points. I think getting sections to match up is a challenge and she shows how. I think I also want to leave additional fabric around the outside edges for a bit of squaring up. (just did a Great Blue Heron, not too hard, but a bit wonky and had to "fix" it

BJ I really like your Storm at Sea block. When locking at the drawing of the quilt, you can really see the undulations of the waves. Since I am prone to motion sickness, I will probably not make one, but I do like it.
It is funny you say that. I was feeling a little motion sick myself yesterday when I finished the third block.   But wait until you see the whole quilt. I hopefully am going to get lots of motion throughout the quilt. I was even thinking of making it a voyage of the Dawn Treader quilt, with "water" spilling through the border, but decided I would have too many copyright issues to deal with. Might take that cause up someday later, though. Sometimes you can even get permission to do these things.

BJ, Your storm at sea design is very nice. Foundation piecing gets easier as you do it more. By the time you finish all the blocks you'll be an expert! I love foundation piecing. Perfect points every time. Enjoy!
