BJ I really like your Storm at Sea block. When locking at the drawing of the quilt, you can really see the undulations of the waves. Since I am prone to motion sickness, I will probably not make one, but I do like it.

Cool BJ. I had a feeling that you were doing a thing like that with the colors. Thanks for showing it.

Betty Jo, I have a wall where that quilt would look great!! ;)

'Storm at Sea' is one of the quilt patterns that I really, really want to get to grips with..... after I retire. :)

That's a jazzed up version of Storm at Sea, BJ--very nice! :D

Looking good BJ. I love the Storm at Sea pattern. I might even make a block someday now that I know it can be paper-pieced. :D

Here's the EQ7 image of the blocks lined up. You have to imagine the rest of the quilt.   Though I may rotate the blocks somewhat.

"Mastering" might be a point too far, but at least I can use it. :D Anyway, I will be journaling this quilt on my personal blog and taking lots of pictures.

You'll do fine at lining the blocks up, BJ! My very first quilt was paper pieced and my sister taught me--her method was pretty much what Carol Doak does and I never forgot how to do it. It's almost like riding a bike! Hope you'll show us your progress on your Storm at Sea design--the block is very pretty! Congratulations on mastering foundation paper-piecing! :D

Thanks Norma. A section of a wave in a pictorial quilt will be made from these blocks...assuming I can get all the points in all the blocks to line up right. LOL

I tried many times to do paper piecing and just couldn't get it to work well for me, and then I watched the Carol Doak's video on paper piecing. It helped me figure out just how to place things. This is just the right time for me because I'm making a pictorial quilt based on the Storm at Sea block that requires soemwhere between 6 and 10 blocks. It takes for-e-ver, but I was able to make one and have started on the next and the points look pretty good to me. Here's a picture (it is square, unlike the picture).
