Terrie, I think you've just found the motto for this challenge: "work from my creativity and not so much from rules"! :D Let the fun begin!!!

Terrie, I think the main rule is that it can't be smaller than 25" x 25". Teri Lucas and I are suggesting 25" x 40" or vice-a-versa as a possible size--bigger is ok, but you might want to keep it kind of small. From looking at past tactile architecture quilts it can even be a shaped quilt. Our point was to take up this challenge and have some fun with this adventure and not stress over it.

Robin, I agree with you. I did not see very detailed instructions, and the link within the link didn't work.

I think the concept for what is considered tactile architecture is really loose. :D And yes, that's where I am...lots of interesting ideas and never quite enough skill...but this should help stretch that skill a little further. A little by little. Maybe one of us, someday, will make quilts that are as well-received as oh, say, Sherry Reynolds' quilts. (Congrats to her, by the way, on getting "one of the major prizes" at Houston). :D

Thanks Betty Jo. Robin that's my impression too. Well I will see how I get on with the idea. So many choices -not enough skill.
Well, I'm in the same boat, Rita—not enough skills :( but I figure that if I'm really motivated about this (I put my husband to sleep last night talking about my ideas for it  so I think I'm motivated) then it's going to push me to get the skills I need.

Thanks, Betty Jo. What I don't see in their description is what type of image or design would qualify for the Houston Tactile Architecture, but judging by the photos Marlene gave us the links to, it's pretty open. Is that your impression, too?

Rita, That sounds very interesting. Floors certainly seem to me to be part of architecture. It certainly works for our challenge. If you decide to go on and enter it into the Houston Tactile Architectural quilt for 2013, they just posted the new information for them. Here's the link:

BJ and Teri, to save you reading back over the whole thread while you were away could you tell me please if a tiled floor in a Cathedral would be considered part of the Architecture? I have a mind to do something based on St. Patrick's or Christchurch here in Dublin but I won't if it's not going to be elligible. Thanks.

Just a reminder - these quilts will not be due until April 2013 so there is plenty of time to submit something.

Hi all,
Just home from the Philadelphia show. It was fun...I'm trying to catch up with all the comments, but mostly I am excited to see such wonderful inspiration and am thankful to TQS for putting the word out even further about this challenge. I'm so looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with.
