I spent part of Friday afternoon holding my three week old granddaughter. Her mom asked if I would like to make the Baptismal gown. I don't think she really expected me to, but naturally I said yes. The baptism is next Saturday, so I hurried to Hancocks and bought material, lace, etc. That is why I am still up at almost 2 in the morning. I do have the cute slip finished. I machine embroidered a pretty trinity floral design on the front, with her name and baptismal date. White thread on the white fabric. I can't wait to start sewing the dress tomorrow. Then I have to have her daddy's civil war uniform finished by the 17th. Just too busy. We are taking a short vacation to visit friends on the 18th. I will need a vacation by then. :) I am also working on a fall table runner. I got the material and pattern at the Des Moines show. I just do alittle of that at a time. Also have another GD who is having a 5th birthday tomorrow. For once I got the gift early, so I can sew until party time. They are having dinner too, so I don't even have to cook. Yeah  Hope everyone has a great weekend.

I'll be doing the same thing! Except she is 1 year old now and may be too busy to sit with Grandma! :D

Margo, I got a reply from HGTV and it seems that we Europeans cannot see the videos on HGTV for the foreseeable future  But on the bright side, at least they replied which is more than most Irish websites do. It's still an interesting website though. :D

Well pooh....I'm glad you figured out the blocking, anyway.

Thanks Dawn! Yes I have fallen in love with needle-turn applique too. I really hope you enjoy Houston and I am looking forward to seeing the winners. Rita.

No, no, no! I do NOT needle-turn applique! I have tried it, and failed! I do admire those who can do it, though! But.............. I am a wizz at using Ricky's Stable Stuff, gluing the seam allowance to the backside, and then using the ladder stitch to applique it onto the background. THIS is my method of choice! :D

Rita, I love your little applique quilt! And, I'm glad it blocked well! I had never done any large amount of applique, until this year's TQS BOM, and have fallen in love with it! (Can't wait to get back to it!) So, I am really looking forward to viewing the applique quilts at Houston Festival this year.

Thanks Karen!

Zarah thanks for the info. A sewezi table is on my list. Apparently the distributor in the UK is very slow to respond so maybe if I get an order in now I might get it for Christmas! For now my plexiglass extension table will have to do the job. As for the light, I will think up something ingenious I am sure

Hi Rita, I love your quilt and the blue flowers are perfect light givers. Somehow I have not seen all the former posts on this thread so I just reread everything.
When it comes to light box things, I think the Ott lamp is the best. I use the same configuration as Margo with either an old extension table or with my Sewezi table. They provide a plexiglass top without any cut outs just for this use. I tried some small battery lamps but they did not give enough light.
