better than nothing 15 Jan 2010 20:06 #42472

This week I only lost 1/2 a pound but I'm okay with that because I spent three days with family due to a funeral and we were given lots of good home cooked foods. Didn't get any exercise in - other than what I get from walking and being on my feel almost constantly at work.
My plan is to go grocery shopping tomorrow and buy things to make some of the WW recipes I printed off their site. And I am hoping to be off work next week and get into an exercise routine.

Don't forget, it's normal for your weight to fluctuate by a couple of pounds. I find it better to weigh just once every couple of weeks, or judge by my waistband!

Also, slow weight loss is a lot more likely to last than quick weight loss. A lot of the weight loss the first week or so will be water loss as your body adjusts to the new food and exercise regime.

When I lost my excess 35 pounds last year, it took from January until the end of October, but I was eating well-balanced healthy meals, not feeling hungry, and not feeling deprived. I think it's much better for your body to do it slowly and if you don't feel like you're depriving yourself of too much, you won't be as likely to get off track in a month or two.

Still holding at what is actually about 5 pounds less than my desired weight.....CaroleD

My week went pretty well. I am drinking more water every day. Went to Curves 3x. Averaged about 8000 steps per day. My eating was way better than last week....with concentrating on eating fresh rather than processed. I also attempted the Bikram yoga class which I could have sworn caused me to lose AT LEAST 10lbs in water!! But the scale showed a 1lb loss. I will take it! Am aiming for a better week next week! Good luck to all!

Lost two pounds. Mainly through portion control.

The weather has been soooo cold that I am drinking tea, but not consuming nearly the water that I had hoped. I fell off the wagon late this week, and my stomach just wreaked havoc on me (I will spare you the details!)

I am realizing that this is going to be effort to stay on track, but I know we can do it!!!

Much to my dismay, I have gained 2 lbs. I thought that I was doing so well! I'll have to go back over my food log and really look at what I have been eating.

Yesterday's workout was strenuous. I have sore muscles today, so taking a break from exercising.

I'm just going to keep on going with this program. One day after another.

I hope everyone is finding some measure of success this week!

I lost 4.6 pounds this week. I did not exercise like I wanted to, but getting off all those white carbs does make a dif. The craving for the carbs is starting to ease too. I'm happy! I know I've got to push the exercise though or I will hit that slowdown and get ticked off...so, soon as I look at the quilt gallery I'm going to hook up wii active. :) Have a great week! Sandi in FL

Where is everybody??? I have to report a .8 lb. gain for this week, but it was worth it!! I just got back last night from a 5 day/4 night quilt retreat where we were served 3 meals a day of the most wonderful food I have ever eaten! I was really good with my portion sizes, and only ate dessert at the last supper! There were snacks available all the time, but no raw veggies or fruits, so I drank lots of water between meals. I did not walk while I was there, but got out first thing this morning to get back into my routine.
I promise to do better next week.

How did you do last week????

True confessions: When I decided to quit smoking, I went into massive over-smoke. Guess what I'm doing now! I'm walking a mile-mile and a half daily and am watching what I eat but evenings if I'm not sewing are total disasters. Pure mindless stuffing the face. My head is saying stupid stupid while my hands are shoveling up crackers and cheese. I can't live in the dungeon unfortunately. I did quit smoking so all is not lost probably and I will conquer this compulsive thing I hope. Kudos to the rest of you. Keep at it. You can be my inspiration. Gloria

My cholestoral was so high the dr skipped diet and excersize and went straight to Crestor. Dang! Really gotta modify my diet. Double dang! I'll be paying alot of attention to this topic!

I wouldn't like that either...don't want to do anything that might make my hands un-movable.

You twist them in so many different ways when holding the pose...and sit on them and lay on them....does this make sense???? Just suffice it to say, you feel like a pretzel!!! LOL

Speaking of yoga......in keeping with opening up myself to new modes of movement, I decided to take a yoga class. I chose Bikram yoga because I read the article in the January issue of "O" magazine....what a shocker!!!! This is the class in a heated room. Everyone in there looked to be about 110lbs at the most!!!!! And the mirrors...don't even ask!!! I made it thru the class but not sure how I made it back to my car!!!!! Now my hands ache..hmmmm. I paid for one month so will go again, I hope.LOL

I managed to lose 2 pounds over the holidays by watching my portions. Last week started treadmill and blood sugars are looking better! Doctor wants me to work up to 150 min per week of cardio and I am taking it slowly by starting at 90 minutes.....plus am keeping my 2 x week yoga classes.
cheers!!
