TOPIC: January 2010 HEALTHY LIFE

30 Jan 2010 07:08 #43008

I lost 0.8 tenths of a pound this week. Don't ya just love these new scales! I actually craved a salad this week instead of chocolate! Now...if I could just hire a personal trainer to come make me exercise! I realize I am not 2 years old and should do it myself, but, I seem to just put if off. I would so much rather quilt with my spare time, or pop on the puter and see what everyone else is up to. I've printed out several 'inspirational' pics and placing them strategically around the house. One will be on top of the lap top and near my machine, so, maybe I will go exercise before having fun! Plus, I figure I've told y'all about this goal, so now I HAVE to stick to it. Have a great week! Sandi in FL

Once again traveling has gotten in the way of the exercising....to say nothing of the wild cravings and eating out a whole lot. It wasn't as bad as it could have been, but I need to get back into the groove again. Not ready to get on the scales though...maybe tomorrow. I have to admit I let the chocolate monkey visit one evening...in the form of covered strawberries....had 2 and calmed that darned monkey down.

week 4 29 Jan 2010 21:38 #43001

Well, this was a disappointing week. Didn't get to the gym as much and a bit more stress. So I guess a week of no change in weight is ok. At least I am doing better with my abdominal exercises.
Will be gone all this next week. At least this time we will be staying at a hotel where the fitness center is included in the roomrate.
Last time it would have cost $25/day. I am too cheap for that!

This has been one of those weeks when life gets in the way! On days for Curves...I wouldn't have a car or had a flat tire or felt sick!!! Suffered with high acidity most of the week...(dr says to lose weight)!! Didn't feel like cooking and salads just wouldn't fit the bill so would eat a sandwich. Water wasn't good either. Did you ask about my food journal??? What is that? I just hit bottom this week. But (on the plus side)... I didn't gain weight unless my scale is stuck! LOL. Will keep on truckn!!!

moving in the right direction 29 Jan 2010 14:26 #42992

I am happy to report that I lost 1.7 lbs. this week. Still not exercising like I should though. I have to admit that I think I have passed the stage of craving sweets and junk. Well, almost. I still crave chocolate once in a while but I just have much smaller portions than before. Believe it or not I actually caught myself craving broccoli the other day. I am truly making lifestytle changes.

I was on the scale at the doctors office and didn't have the courage to get on the scale here. I blogged about that visit. I really need to do more than just try to lose. I've been counting calories since Monday and walking. Doctor informed me that walking was great for maintaining but to lose I'd have to walk about 50 miles a day. Since I don't have time for that, I'm joining the fitness center today. I get 2 sessions with a personal trainer to set up a program based on my needs.
Good luck everyone.

I, too, held steady. Still need to do more to get myself on track -- get better at drinking water and regular exercise. Leave candy alone! :!:

Congrats Margo. I didn't lose any this week, but at least I didn't gain. The problem is that we ate out too much, even though I was kinda careful what I chose. I know I've gotta get crackin'. Mary

Happy Friday everyone! I'm only reporting .6 pounds lost this week, but am glad for it! Still watching portions, no snacks after 7PM and walking most days. I realize that it took me a lot longer to put it on than it will take to get it off, so I'm still working at it.

No gain...no loss, but lots of busy stuff going on. Been to Curves....love their new workout...lots harder and you can really feel it. Sore arm today in fact, but I expect a good nights sleep will help that.
I am wrestling the refrigerator demons the last 2 days....I miss my bowl of ice cream....so I got some frozen yoghurt and had some...it helped.
Too much traveling...I am off again to drive to SoCalif tomorrow...weather looks good so I have to get on the road early and pray for clear weather by next week when I want to come home.
I am taking some "not so redwork" with me so I feel like I am accomplishing something. I am keeping my hands and mind busy with Alex's 12 days of Redwork pattern...only I am using lots of colors.
Have a good weekend ahead.........Karen :)

one day at a time 22 Jan 2010 21:07 #42698

I lost a pound this week and I'm okay with that under the circumstances. The only exercise I got was walking almost constantly at work. I have been eating more fruit and veggies. And I have been watching my portions extra carefully when we go out or bring something in - like pizza. I love pizza, could eat it 365 days a year but I don't. The not eating after 7 thing isn't for me. And according to the experts, "a calorie is a calorie" no matter when you ingest it. I guess we're just all different. I can "push through" the hunger during the day if I have to but not in the evening.

I am so proud of all you girls out there!!!! I made it to Curves once this past week. My steps are averaging 8000 per day. Drinking more water. I try to eat right...key word "try"! I did slip on Thursday night...all by myself and ate pizza!!! One of my biggest hurdles is eating out. I eat lunch out almost every day. It's a long story... So counting calories is really hard and keeping portions under control is almost impossible. Then there is the husband factor....He isn't exactly interested in eating healthy. So with trepidation, I weighed myself this am and I haven't lost anything. Plus side is I haven't gained! Next Wed at Curves is measuring day and I am anxious to see those numbers! I did read a very good book for those of you who have tried every known diet fad and are now counting calories. It's called CALORIE QUEENS Living Thin in a Fat World by Jackie Scott and Diane Scott Kellum. This is a mother and daughter duo who have lost a combined 300 lbs! It made a lot of sense to me. Anyway...have a good week...keep on moving!!!!

Week 3 22 Jan 2010 20:15 #42692

Well, I lost the pound I gained last week, but was sure hoping to do better than that.
I am back in the frequency of the exercise routine, but decided that maybe I needed to change it up a little bit. Worked out some options - and - then left the cheat sheet at home! Doh!
Will do better than that next time.
Am definitely doing better with balancing my diet, but the chocolate and sweets really call my name at all hours of the day.
Let's all stay steady on course for a healthier quilting bee!

I've had a good week. My total is 6 pounds. I've worked up a few exercise programs on the wii active that I'm enjoying and hope it is nice enuff to walk the beach this weekend. I didn't have time to measure this morning so will do that tomorrow. My uniforms are feeling a bit looser. Sandi in FL
