hi all. remember I had the gastric emptying scan a few weeks ago? well just came back from the dr office, and I have something! gastroparesis! slow motility, my stomach doesn't empty fast enough! and the only medication for it is not really recommended, reglan. she told me all the side effects, I said no thank you! I always wondered why the fruits and veggies I ate made me sick. they don't digest! So much for eating healthy! But now I know I must juice them, eat no skins, no high fiber, I'm already no dairy, so maybe I can figure this out now that I know what the problem is. She also gave me the number of a nutritionist. and small, frequent meals, and no high fiber cereal! So much for the all bran buds in the morning!!
so thank you all for your prayers. after 17 years I have an answer. Now to get with it and try to live with it!
(I wonder how red peppers taste juiced??!!)

Judy, haven't been on here lately and have gone back 3 pages and read your saga.....we have 3 cats and all family have cats so have sent your warning on to many! So glad your hand is recovering so well.

My cat bit the back of my hand in 2003 very hard and very deep when she was frightened by a dog....and she held on for dear life. She is a BIG cat - 17# and I thought I would die! But now I know how lucky I was because I didn't have to go to the doctor, but it was painful for a long time. Never really got infected! Praise the Lord!

Thanks for the warning and all the good tips! Yep, I still have my cat, too. And she also hates being brushed.

Judy, great to hear that the stitches are out. Those surgeons think should be on stage sometimes, don't they! Good thing your own PT is working out.

Hi, I had the stitches taken out today and the surgeon was pleased. He said that it should take about 6 weeks for recovery and to keep doing my exercises or whatever I was doing to get this far. And that I didn't need physical therapy...... He wanted to know if I still had my cat!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I need to start thinking about getting back to hand sewing and running my machine. Thanks for all your concerns. Judy in AZ

Judy my cousin once was scratched by a cat and became deathly ill. It had brought a latent condition to the forefront. So thankfully she was diagnosed before that became disasterous. I am so glasd to hear that you are doing better.
Sorry I haven't been on in a while. Frustrated over family and sewing machine. I did manage to get a quilt halfway finished this past month with a 40 year old singer. And to think I almost sold it in a yard sale. I would be all the way done but I need more of the black fabric and the quilt shop sold it all  :x Now I have to search for more.
It is turning out great though.

I am glad you are on the mend. I had a cat once, she ran away and got pregnant and mom made me give her away. She was gentle. But since then haven't met a cat I can like! Good luck with all the quilting cats out there!

Glad to hear you're doing better !

That's definitely good news that you can do some pretty intensive things like knit, even though your hand is still swollen.

Thanks for updating us.

I am slowly regaining the use of my hand. I can knit, play the piano to exercise the fingers, and a few other things but mainly dependent on the left hand. My hand is still very stiff and sore and feels like there is a board in it preventing me from moving it. It is still a little swollen but I can see knuckles finally. I will have the stitches out on Tuesday and will find out if there will be physical therapy or not. I haven't tried to hand applique as yet. I think I am a little afraid to try it as that is what I love to do and will be upset if I can't. Kitty sits on my lap and licks peanut butter off of my fingers but I do keep the handy water spray bottle nearby in case he gets any ideas. DH has had to pitch in and help, especially cutting my food and opening things for me. That's it so far. Thanks for your interest and I will keep you posted. Judy in AZ

Kathy...have you ever tried compressed air in a can...like you use to clean a computer. I didn't want my cat GiGi to get on our tables...and she wanted to do so all the time. When she jumped up I shot the noisy air her way (not in her face) and she doesn't get up on the tables anymore. She doesn't like the hissing sound and runs for cover. Now she just has to see the can and she stops whatever she is doing that's bad behavior. :)

Judy I'm praying your hand is getting better for you fast. Let us know how it is doing.

Judy
I'm so sorry to hear about the cat bite and what this caused,Ochy sure hope it mends quickly. I once got cat scratch fever 104 fever from taking care of wild kittens. There toe nails carry alot of poison. Our whiskars is not very nice to me she is always on a spook for me jumping out and biting at me. Bites hard too. I have threated to find her a good home but I love her to much. Now I have to carry around a water bottle to spray her. If I get out of bed she is after me! She loves Pete,Petes cat! lol. I treat her very good and don't know why she picks after me only. It could be that I have to move her alot from my sewing area. During the day she is right at my side. Those bites carry alot of poison to. You would think after afew bites getting her head slapped she would stop she just gets meaner! I keep reminding myself that I love Mean little Whiskars.
Mend fast and feel better soon.
Hugzzz,Kathy
