I spent about an hour today washing fat quarters. I bought some drawers at The Container Store a couple of days ago. I decided that I would wash all my fat quarters before putting them away again so that when I want to use them, they're ready to go. So I rinsed them all in the sink and now they are in the dryer. Then maybe on Monday or so, I will iron them and fold them and put them in the new drawers. I will probably have to buy more, I had a lot more than I thought I did.
Frances

(Sun) I pulled them all out of the dryer this morning. 113 fat quarters and a few quarter yard cuts. I'll be busy ironing tomorrow.

I went to my "Mini" group today. Finished must of the piecing for 8 blocks for a "Square in a square" sampler that one of my friends is teaching. Hopefully will get these blocks done this weekend. I already have 3 blocks done. These are (8") blocks. Still will have 14 more to go for the quilt my friend designed. We are checking out here requirements and instructions. (I hope the yardage is correct, for 0ne of my fabrics is almost gone, I I do not have any more, and it is an older fabric. Will see how it goes. I will let you know.

I've been busy doing my "15 minutes a day" on top of working long hours. But it has been VERY productive, too. I posted three pictures of new projects, all wall hangings, to my profile. The paper-pieced miniature quilts were fun, and frustrating at times, and the as yet unquilted mariner's compass is a fabric challenge for our guild.

I have also started a wedding quilt using some beautiful (and uncharacteristically dark) fabrics. The pattern is on the cover of the September edition of The Quilter Magazine. I'm adding to the size so it will be queen size when the borders are added. Mine is 9 blocks by 10 blocks. I received the fabric on Tuesday this week and have almost finished the top. It has gone together very quickly and I hope to have the rows put together and borders on it this weekend. The wedding is in September, so I have a little time but also have several other projects to put on the long arm this summer.

Of course, all this productivity has meant that I haven't spent as much time on the forums or blogging. Seems like there's always a trade-off. <sigh>

I got 6 or 7 crumb blocks done at bee today. And I have a few more that are almost done. Even though I got the minimum done for the exchange, I just kept going because they are so much fun.

Hi all, well I had a struggle with the fan border. I probably did as much unsewing as sewing when I tried to match up all the points. So I guess I ended up at the base line of sewing. Atleast I didn't end up in the negative. Three sides are on with one more to go.

I did not get to sew since Sunday but I did drop off my sister's Christmas quilt to the quilters.... I am going to count that as quilting for my Tilde Thread. I got my copy of Marti Michelle's 1001 NINE PATCH QUILTS and I read it going down in the car ( DH driving) to a funeral. I am considering making several scrappy 9 patches cause I have tons of scrap strips from other project left over and I think it would be a fun thing to do.... but that is into the far future.

I hope to pull fabrics for a quick and easy BARGELLO project .... ( see Fons and Porter Easy Quilt last fall/ winter) I am doubling the fabrics used in their project so I can have a bigger size for my quilt. They said they did their quilt in an afternoon... I plan to work on mine all weekend... WE will see how long it takes me.

IT WILL BE DONE by her first radiation therapy.

Yes, Cheryl, It is the Clamshell quilt show, the 19 and 20, Saturday and Sunday. Please stop by and say hello, I will be at the Prize booth, the one with all the baskets at it, Gloria and I will be there all day :D  [/quote]

Great, I'll look for the lady tied up in fabric and yarn. It will be a very exciteing girls day.

As for the Tilde, I was able to put 1 1/2 strips of small fan blocks together. They are attached to 1/4 sq triangles and sewed in a line to go around the center creating a border.. 2 1/ 2 more borders to go. Then I want to figure out some trapunto. THat will also be a first. There are a lot of first in this quilt for a first time baby for my SIL.So far it is looking pretty good. I'll post a photo of the top when finished.

Debbie - we like to hear when anyone had time to accomplish something. Your white whole cloth quilt is wonderful. I am back on my son's Mariner Compass. Due to a cloth shortage caused by me cutting wrong I am adding a row of flying geese around the center compass. I completed 34 units yesterday and have 55 more to go. And I did my first convergence project which still needs borders and quilting.
Thank you, it is my baby, I have three more in the works, I love designing whole cloth, problem is getting the time to stitch them on my longarm, I have to make money first. Then and only then is there tiime for the creativity. Debbie

I wanted to make my flying geese using Ricky's method but I did not have enough fabric so I am struggling with triangles. I have everything cut out and have about 30 remaining to be sewed.

One of the women I work with is trying to get a group together to get Bonnie Hunter to the area for a class. Let me know if anyone out there would be interested in coming to the Oconomowoc, WI area and I'll let Beth know. She needs at least 25 people. Gloria
