Sue's directions for the 2009 BOM are even more detailed than for the appliqued one we are working on now, if you can believe that! However, I will also be adding some alternative techniques for some of the blocks in case anyone is interested. I had never done paper piecing before, and like you....really don't like dealing with removing the paper, but that part really wasn't too bad, and I must admit that the accuracy is impressive! But...I couldn't leave well enough alone, and will offer something else for you to try. With that said, I will say that for the center feathered star, I wouldn't even attempt it with traditional piecing. With Sue's directions it went together perfectly! If that star looks like more than you want to tackle, she offers a simplier design as an alternative that will go together faster. With alternative blocks for each element, we could all wind up with really different looking quilts! This is going to be fun!
