I do foundation piecing by hand. I cut muslin 8.5 x 11 and iron it onto freezer paper. Then I print the foundations onto the muslin using my laser printer. I use a running stitch to sew the pieces on and stab and stitch the pieces together so that I go through the lines on both pieces. I always had problems with sewing through the line on the back when I did it by machine. Both the stained glass quilt and the pinwheel quilt on my profile were made this way.

Frances, thank you for the instruction. This sounds like a method that would be good for hand piecing. I'm going to give this a try.
