TOPIC: TQS BOM Queen

23 Aug 2008 21:50 #24761

Florence, I went to Quakertown website where Sue Garman has her patterns and ordered the gingerbread pattern which is hand appliqued. That would keep you busy. Of course, I have so many UFOs, who knows when I will get to it. My DGC might be all grown up by the time I finish. Judy in AZ

Florence, why not try a Baltimore Album next year. There are so many different designs. The best way to do them is hand applique and the blocks would certainly be portable.

I finally found the time to watch the episode that Sue did with Alex and Ricky. I was shocked at the number of applique quilts she completes in one year. She certainly is amazing and she had fantastic helpful tips. I've enjoyed this BOM and certainly look forward to 2009 with a medallion quilt. Now, I'm really glad I've been keeping up with this project.

Me too! I'd love to see her in action, she must even sew fast to get that many done!!
My only regret about next year's BOM being pieced is that this one turned me on so to applique, and it is SOOOO portable! I'm just not imagining myself HAND-piecing, so I'll have to dream up something else for all my waiting-time... Florence

I am so glad that Sue has signed on for another year's BOM. I haven't done this year's because I already had a few other BOMs in progress. I have enjoyed watching each month for the results of each member's interpretation of Sue's designs. You are all doing a great job. So, in 2009, Sue's BOM will definately be THE BOM for me. I can't wait the join the fun.

Wow! Another episode where I learned something new. Sue's tips and techniques especially pre sewing for making any project, piecing or applique, go a bit faster and smoother.

The design tips with Ricky & Alex are wonderful! I love the idea of using the diagonal for moving the eye in a particular direction and creating such incredible visual impact.

Happy Quilting!

I am so delighted to be able to do the on line class next year! Precision piecing! I need all the help I can get.

Funny thing, now that I've 'gotten acquainted' with machine applique (it's not so intimidating now) I am still aware that I really do enjoy the 'just sitting' part of needle turn!

We'll see what learning precision piecing does for my desire to sit and sew whether at machine or easy chair!

Sue, Margo and Bridget, thanks for all your help! I'm very excited about next years BOM and learning more about piecing.

I'm still learning about applique and found out that Sue will be teaching a class at Quackertown Quilts in Sept. Gosh after seeing what she did in the show, how could I pass up a chance to learn more from our Queen! So I signed up this morning! :D

I am really excited about next year's BOM - a pieced quilt - my passion! But watching this latest show, Sue made applique look so easy. I need to get back to this year's BOM and get going :-) I think all of you here at TQS rock!!!

I love this group. Applique is my favorite technique and I have learned so much from this BOM but I also can't wait to at least peep at what we have in store next year. Remember we will have a new BOM to work on while we are quilting this years BOM. We are going to be busy busy busy. And Sue, I am ordering your Lily Rosenberry pattern. Am I a glutten for punishment or not?

Sue,
We are all enjoying this wonderful applique BOM - it is hard to switch gears (I thought) but truthfully, I can hardly wait for the next segment of challenge. We are blessed to be a part of your remarkable talent and in the end have beautiful quilts ourselves.

I agree Margo, Bridget and let's not forget Judy has kept us all excited, filled with info and working each month and anxiously waiting for the next. What a great group we have!

Thanks to all of you,
Bonny
