I found my beads and added them to my August block. Check out the blog and you can see close-up. A new picture is also on my profile.

Sandy, your block is great; I especially like the fabric of your flowers.

I started adding my crystals last night. I too like to see things finished, which is why I typically don't have UFOs. I'm adding the crystals to areas where I don't plan on there being any quilting. I probably should have waited to attach them; but when they arrived, I was like a kid on Christmas morning.

Ritzy, congratulations on your block being featured in the newsletter.

Sandy, your stems turned out wonderful, they're very textured. Love um. Your blocks look great all together.

Kathy & Lynn - Thanks for your answers on the quilting question. I, too, would like to finish my blocks and see how they look, but guess I'll just wait.

I did some experimenting with my stitches after watching Jane Sossaman.. The bottom of the stems were made using stitch #104 on my Bernina 440 and adjusting the width. The top portion was the stem stitch, #48, and I made it narrower and longer. I used one of the King Tut threads. I had tried two different sizes of Pearl Cotton but felt that was too heavy. Up close, the stem stitch looks like it has "stickers" on it :)

Thanks for your nice comments.

Sandy. Love your block. The dark flowers are beautiful! Your stems are intriguing. Look almost textural............?????

I don't know yet how I will quilt. I may regret adding the beads now, but like a 2 year old, I didn't want to wait to put them on! :D :?

Sandy, I totally love your block! Your dark colors for the flowers remind me of dark colored lillies! How did you make the larger baby's breath stems? They appear to be twisted chenille stems  !

Maggie in E. Central Illinois, looking to have a totally gorgeous day, and I get to play this afternoon with my godson (4) and his sister (6). Life doesn't get better!

Hi Sandy,

When I get around to making my August block, I will more than likely use beads, but I will add them after completing my machine quilting!

Sandy, do we have guild tomorrow? Do you know what the program is? Gas is cheaper now so I might, I say might, venture on down the road. Judy

I've posted my August block. I put a few french knots on but they don't show up so think I'll take them out and put some beads or crystals on after I quilt.

For those of you that are adding the beads now, are you going to hand or machine quilt? I'd like to put them on now but plan to machine quilt and am afraid I'll break them while quilting. How are you all going to handle that?

Love all of the blocks. I really like the idea of adding some personal items in your blocks.
