Thanks. I've enjoyed making those jackets. I just cut up a man's XL sweatshirt and quilt the fabric on them and them put them back together. I'm trying to figure out how to put my block of the month blocks in my profile, my son-in-law put the other pictures in my profile. I may have to get him to show me again. I did'nt retain.

And a big welcome from me too! It's always fun to meet someone new on the forum and to have a 'look' at your profile quilts.

Mim62- the quilt you are holding in your pic-I was just looking through that book at a quilt shop. It is really darling! :D

Block of the Month 01 Jul 2008 12:39 #21133

I read all of the posts but I am new to responding. I do raw edge applique on my block of the month. I figure they won't be washed that much. I also did samples and washed them 5 times or more and they all looked fine. Has anyone heard of The Cotton Theory (Fold and Finish Procedure) by Betty Cotton? When you use her procedure you quilt each block and them put them together. When you are finished you have a reversible quilt. It is beautiful and easy to do. I have bought her book and her DVD and they are very good. I wish Alex and Ricky would have her on the show.

I am just beginning to make this quilt. I am new to this site and sort of new to quilting. I am nervous but enthusiastic. I think I will be fine until I have to put it together at the end and then it might be panic time!!!

Welcome to the forum and the BOM. We have all enjoyed the process as you will. Jump in and join at any point. By the way......I am a Molly Mom :D :D

Welcome Molliesmom! You won't have anything to be nervous about with this group... we cover a full range of experience AND expertise, as well as techniques, so you'll quickly learn there's no "right" or "wrong" and in a world like that, you can't screw up! There's been lots of advice and info on the applique, so I expect the same will happen when we move to piecing and quilting!

My first big quilt! 01 Jul 2008 08:46 #21116

I just printed out the July block. I am going to try some new techniques (some will be made up as I go!) and will report back to you after I have tried them.

Well, I have the July block printed and will select my fabrics tomorrow. One of my favorite things to do. This one is going to be more detailed - so have already decided to just enjoy. :)

I have several applique projects in the works but this BOM I have enjoyed staying on track. It is like having our own little applique meeting each month and working and admiring each others blocks.

Hope to have this one posted in a couple of weeks and thanks for all the lovely comments on my blocks.

Happy July BOM!

I'm checking in also. I'm not sure what time July will be posted but if I stay up another hour or two, it might be posted.

Thanks for your nice comments on my tulip block. It really is amazing to see the variety of colors and fabric everyone has chosen.

I went ahead & selected my fabrics the other day, have them all pinned on the design wall next to the first 6 blocks. Thought about picking for all the rest, but ran out of time, and tomorrow I'll want to get right on that new block!!

Hi All, I haven't been on in a while, son's graduation and all.

I have kept up with all my blocks except that I've not done any berries. Usually I love doing them, but I've put them off. Maybe I'll do them all together later. I'm also behind on uploading pictures. I think I'll take a picture of the six blocks I have so far.

Teaching lots of kids these days with them out of school. Lots of future quilters! Nancy in western NY
