Wanda, there are a lot of us from Texas so we are pretty scattered Maybe we could set one meeting place and if possible carpool to that and then get the bus. I would love to go but if it is in September we may not be back to Texas BUT IF WE AREN'T BACK TO TEXAS YET I PLAN TO LOBBY VERY HARD FOR A SIDETRIP TO LA VETA FOR THE TAPING.

I am making two of each block and the traditional colored ones will probably become wall hangings and go to different people BUT the funky ones areMINE and I just decided this morning to start putting them together as a quilt as you go so I can have all the squares quilted as we go along and decide on exact placement etc when all are done. Any ideas out there on what I should do for the backing squares?

Ann in Northern Iowa (I bought long underwear yesterday because I have been freezing and it isn't supposed to warm up for days yet.)

I planned on doing the same thing and was going to start at bee last night but put it off. Maybe we could compare notes as we go. I was thinking of attaching the 1/2 square triangles now and quilt those as well.

OH AND BY THE WAY - COUNT ME IN ON BEING ONE OF THE GROUP ON CO IN 9/09!!

I said on another thread on the forum that I wanted to go. I'm in western NC, near Asheville...2 hours from Knoxville, TN. I would love to get on the bus with some of you. Please count me in.

I have been considering trying the Cotton Theory quilting on each block. I've watched the video a couple of times and can't see why this wouldn't work and look very pretty at the same time. Has anyone else tried this method and if so, how did it turn out?

You know, Ann, I've been thinking a little (before this discussion) about doing this as a "quilt as you go" project just because I like to ALWAYS have some kind of handwork that I can pick up at the last minute at ANY time! I am trying to force myself to learn to machine quilt (ie. gathering equipment, reading, - but just barely sitting at the machine! ha ha) and I guess I could go either way on this quilt!

Lynn, west of Houston 20 miles in Sugar Land

So, here's 1 for Texas

That is obviously an option, but I wonder if it might be more fair to say that the members who bring a FINISHED quilt will be guaranteed to attend the taping? If there are only a few finished quilts, drawing lots seems the only fair way to choose if there are more than 40 members who make the trip. I hope that we can fill the studio for at least one taping, and maybe more!!! :D
Maybe this will be the incentive to make the effort to get the quilts finished?

Maggie in E. Central Illinois, where it was a dank, 40 degrees yesterday, but now the weather is promising some 80s. We are literally going to go from running the furnaces (my neighbors, not me) to air conditioning.

I'm sure there must be alot of us out there that haven't posted our blocks yet--I've got to get my digital camera back from our son who's been taking pics of the new baby. I have four blocks finished and I'm going to start May tonight. I want to hand quilt my top and embellish it with some beads after the quilting is finished. It will just have to be a priority starting New Year's Day, 2009, so it will be finished for the trip to LaVeta!!! :D
