TOPIC: AccuQuilt Go and Templates

Re: AccuQuilt Go and Templates 04 Jun 2012 16:04 #81859

Hi Lisa,

The web tech didn't understand what the zip file was I sent containing all the embroidery designs, so he didn't post it :-( Lilo (the one with the power to make things happen on the web site) is aware of the missing designs and is working on rectifying the situation.

Kind regards,
Sarah :-)

I don't believe in stitch and trim in the hoop! It is incredibly time consuming, and limits the possibilities for edge finishing. Having said that, the embroidery in the hoop that comes with the BOM has a simple satin stitch outline. However, there will be an optional (to be purchased) embroidered applique version available which will have more stuff going on - and potentially some different edge finishes.

My preferred method of applique, in the hoop or not, has pre-cut applique shapes. Templates are provided so that you can trace and cut the shapes by hand. Alternatively, you can use the AccuQuilt GO! dies to do the cutting. Whichever way you look at it, if time is important to you (i.e. you'd rather be sewing that cutting applique shapes) cutting the shapes out ahead of time (which you can do while watching a movie if you're doing it with scissors and can be done in about an hour with the GO!) is much faster than trimming in the hoop. But this is just my opinion!

Kind regards,
Sarah :-)

Hi Sarah!

Thanks for doing one of your gorgeous designs as a BOM on The Quilt Show! I, like many others I've seen posting on TQS, am wondering where the "basic satin stitch machine embroidery appliqué files" that you have mentioned here and in June's instructions as being "included", actually are? Did a detail get dropped when the webmaster was putting in all the hotlinks for June? Can't find VP3, or ART (for example) files to download...

Please, can you help clear this up? I'm hoping that by quoting your post, you'll get an e-notification, lol, of this post.

Mille grazie!

Thanks Sarah,
My mind was racing and I really meant Heather's Feathers, not Bedazzeled. A group of us are starting a Bedazzled BOM and I had that on my mind as I was looking at Sedona Star. Oops, lol!

Pam - Not sure what I have said that might make you believe that the GO! Be Dazzled designs will work with this quilt. They will not. The applique uses my Heather Feather dies (not the CD!) and there will be basic embroidery in the hoop included with your TQS membership. Anyone who wishes to can also purchase an "embroidered applique" version of the applique - which will be available June 1 in time for the month 6.

Kind regards,
Sarah :-)

Sarah, Are you saying that the Bedazzled embroidery will work with this quilt? That would be super!

Re: AccuQuilt Go and Templates 28 Jan 2012 16:25 #75006

I received a Go Cutter and some dies for Xmas and think it's great, but don't seem to be able to get the Heather Feather 1 & 2 in Australia and I think they are quite large, would someone be able to fill me in with the size please as I think the postage to Australia would be quite expensive

I have finally treated myself to a late christmas present and bought the Go Baby cutter along with Sarah's two Heather Feather dies. (Could not resist) I was just wondering if anyone with some experiance of these cutters could confirm how "tight" the dies fit through the rollers ? I have had a little practice and was surprised how tight the fit was with just one piece of material (& cutting mat). Thinking about it I suppose the rollers do have to press the dies very firmly to make the cuts !! I would appreciate anyone's view on this :?: (I would hate to be forcing and break my lovely new dies and cutter)

Once you break it in a bit, it will get better. I was really shocked when I got mine too!

Hi Mellymoo,
I think it has to be a fairly tight fit to prevent slippage as everything goes through the machine. My GO is a very tight fit unless I cut 1 or 2 layers at a time. With carpel tunnel, it is easier for me to turn the handle if I don't put more than 2 layers of fabric in it. I was a little cautious about buying a GO! since I have shoulder problems and not much hand strength, but I was pleasantly surprised at how easy mine is to use.

Sometime, one of us should borrow a Go! Baby die just to see if it works with the Studio and adapter. On the other hand, I'll bet we could email Accuquilt and ask. They are so responsive. Congratulations on the Studio. Isn't it just downright fun to cut fabric now?

Had a go and used and then just upgraded to the studio. Love it! Alo got adaptor for go dies. Since the dies for the baby work on the Go without n adaptor, I think the Go adaptor for the studio is all you need. Think the Baby go is limited in size of dies it can use but is same depth/ height as go which is what the go adaptor does--raises height of die for for studio Adaptors are not very expensive. I bought biggest size you get as I can use smaller dies with it but can't use larger dies (ie, for strips) with the smaller of the adaptors. Hope this makes sense.
