TOPIC: AccuQuilt Go and Templates

Re: AccuQuilt Go and Templates 05 Jan 2012 12:53 #73160

I use the studio one at the store quite a bit and like it a lot. I just don't see myself buying the Go. Don't think I would ever use it enough. But thought it might be ok to invest in a couple of dies once in a while if it worked on the Studio. I will have to check out the adapter. Thanks

PS, I don't know about the Go! Baby dies on the Accuquilt Studio. Certainly the dealer could answer that question. You will be totally amazed on how fast and well that big machine works! I just want to take down the curtains in the house, just to have something to cut

An adaptor is needed to make Go! dies work on the Studio.

My local quilt shop has the big Accu-cut machine that they will rent time on. Will the Go dies work on the large Accu-cut machine? Just wondering.

I don't believe in stitch and trim in the hoop! It is incredibly time consuming, and limits the possibilities for edge finishing. Having said that, the embroidery in the hoop that comes with the BOM has a simple satin stitch outline. However, there will be an optional (to be purchased) embroidered applique version available which will have more stuff going on - and potentially some different edge finishes.

My preferred method of applique, in the hoop or not, has pre-cut applique shapes. Templates are provided so that you can trace and cut the shapes by hand. Alternatively, you can use the AccuQuilt GO! dies to do the cutting. Whichever way you look at it, if time is important to you (i.e. you'd rather be sewing that cutting applique shapes) cutting the shapes out ahead of time (which you can do while watching a movie if you're doing it with scissors and can be done in about an hour with the GO!) is much faster than trimming in the hoop. But this is just my opinion!

Kind regards,
Sarah :-)

If I am planning to do my appliqué using my embroidery machine (which is a Desugner 1), is there any advantage to having the Go dies? I assume the embroidery machine will stitch out the designs, and I will trim fabric it the stitching line? Thanks!

I didn't see Heather Feathers on this site. If I find them on a good deal elsewhere, I'll let you know! Ordering directly from Accuquilt has benefits over time because you earn points which in turn earn discounts on purchases.

I'm hoping my machine gets here tomorrow. It was my Christmas present to myself :D

Thanks for the link, Sue. I just ordered the GO! Baby at a great price! I couldn't find Heather Feather 1 and 2 on this site. Am I missing them?

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I found this advertisement on a Yahoo group.

If you have a Go and want new dies, this is an incredible sale. I ordered before breakfast & had a shipping notification with the 2nd cup of coffee :D
I'm in no way connected to this shop.

There are really only 2 dies that make a huge difference for the applique - Heather Feather 1 and Heather Feather 2, both of which are GO! Baby compatible. There are other dies which can make cutting the circles easier, but you can also use the OLFA Rotary Circle Cutter and cut any size of circle with that!

Hope this helps.

I just bought the Accuquilt and so far it's ok. It's on sale at Joann's and sewforless.com has them on sale with free shipping.

The dies are a bit pricy so if they can offer a package for just the dies at a "resonable" price I will get them. Otherwise I will be buying the dies when on sale and the ones I have to have for that month. On the other hand I am still deating on either doing my own colors or getting the kit. As usual money is at the root of it all. :?

I saw a post last week from John about the possibility of purchasing the AccuQuilt Go and necessary templates for Sedona Star as a package. I haven't seen this post at all this week. Is this still in the works? Will the templates only work on the GO or will they also fit on the GO Baby?
